Performance 

High/low-pressure cooking; high/low slow cooking; browning, sautéing; and keeping warm are just a few of the 19 easy-to-use programmed settings. There are also specific settings for ribs, roast, fish, poultry, high/low veggies, browning, sautéing; keeping warm; stew, soup; beans; and desserts, among other things. 

Compared to many of the pressure cookers we tested, the Presto is simple to use. Its interface is straightforward and intuitive. The lid is secure easily. The pressure release valve is simple to operate (be cautious and use a wooden spoon to avoid getting your hand near the resulting burst of steam). 

However, we do have a few minor quibbles. The first is that there is no convenient place for the lid to be stored when it is not in use. Numerous other models feature a slot in one handle that allows you to hold the lid vertically while sautéing vegetables or serving your meal.  

This may seem insignificant, but it is quite liberating not to have to keep the lid in one hand while stirring or performing with the other. Additionally, the LCD display on the control panel is small, which means that those who require reading glasses may have difficulty reading it without assistance. 

Pressure cooking is a method that we were consistent, so we were not surprised to find that the Presto performed better than most other machines. This is partly due to the pressure cooker’s inability to produce tender meat (the ribs we made fell off the bone). We also found the sauté mode to be handy for making one-pot meals, which is a crucial feature. 

Cleaning 

We found the Presto 02141 6-Quart Electric Pressure Cooker to be one of the most straightforward models to clean out of the many we tested, owing in part to a dishwasher-safe nonstick pot certified by the manufacturer. 

Tossing the nonstick pot into the dishwasher was an enormous time-saver when we needed to remove burnt vegetables from the pan. The gasket can be removed from the two-piece lid, allowing easier cleaning.  

If you have ever used a pressure cooker or any other cooking method, you have encountered the problem of a gap between the lid and the body that is difficult to clean. 

Should you buy Presto 02141 6-Quart Electric Pressure Cooker? 

Due to its overall high performance and propensity for being on sale, Presto 02141 6-Quart Electric Pressure Cooker is frequently a fantastic value for those in the market for a new pressure cooker. However, it becomes significantly less compelling if you cannot locate it on sale.  

The Presto is comparable in capability to many of the most popular models and lists at a comparable price. However, it is frequently on sale. We believe it is excellent overall value if you can find it on sale. If you are unable to locate it on sale, you might consider one of the more popular models instead — they are famous for a reason.
