#1 - Best KitchenAid Stand Mixer For Everyday Bakers - KitchenAid Artisan Series 5-Qt.
KitchenAid Artisan Series 5-Qt. Stand Mixer - Aqua Sky and Spiralizer Attachment
Choose from well over 20 colors and enjoy a few upgrades such as a comfort handle and a larger capacity with this KitchenAid mixer, which may be the best mixer for home bakers who have excellent taste in baked goods and style.
This stand mixer is ideal for batters, cookies, and the majority of everyday baked goods, as well as the occasional stiff bread dough or sticky pizza dough.
- Handles even the most difficult doughs with ease.
- Bowl made of heavy-duty material with a handle.
- Numerous customization options.
- Extensive selection of optional attachments.
- Pretty heavy
- Inadequate power to make a large number of stiff or wet doughs regularly
- Coated attachments are susceptible to chipping.
- Wire whip is not Dishwasher-safe
Design
Artisan Series, 5 Quart model is an excellent compromise between power, size, and design. The smooth, rounded lines give the impression that it is aerodynamic and a little retro but still modern. This mixer would fit in any kitchen.
Also available for customization are almost 50 different color options, the ability to have your stand mixer engraved, and the ability to swap out the standard mixing bowl for a patterned ceramic or glass mixing bowl.
A sturdy handle made lifting the bowl simple, and there was plenty of room for pouring in ingredients — which was especially useful when mixing in more than five cups of mix-ins for the Compost Cookies.
Unlike some stand mixers, this one has the speed controls on the left and the tilt-head lock on the right. As a result of that arrangement, we felt most at ease using the mixer with the nose facing forward, which allowed us to reach the controls with both hands if necessary. It comes with the large bowl’s open design so we scrape the sides of the felt without adjusting the head.
Due to the mixer’s weight (approximately 20 pounds), it may be a countertop appliance. It’s attractive, and leaving it on the counter increases the likelihood that it will be used. Additionally, the weight ensures that it remains stable on the counter and is less likely to wobble off.
Performance
This stand mixer isn’t a professional-level machine, but it’s mighty and efficient for home cooks, with a 325-watt motor. With such tasks as whipping cream or mixing cake batter, the device proved its value.
This machine features ten speeds, with the first marked “Stir,” followed by numbers and prominent stops at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10. The mixer’s speed, on the other hand, can be adjusted anywhere between those numbers. While this allows for a more seamless speed transition, we discovered that we were more likely to choose one of the stops.
There are two possibilities for the locking mechanism. Either the head is locked down, or it is free. While locking the head down while the mixer is running is a good idea to prevent the head from bouncing, we discovered that it was only necessary when working with dense doughs.
For whipping or mixing cake batter, the head was not required to be locked down. We can quickly lift the head, and checking our mixtures was more straightforward because the head could be left unlocked.
Hand-kneading dense pasta dough is a difficult task. To obtain some noodles takes a great deal of effort. However, this stand mixer performed admirably when kneading thick pasta dough. We gave it a try and soon had a smooth ball of pasta dough. While the mixer’s motor became slightly warm, it did not become hot, and thus we were not concerned about overheating.
For the dough, the mixer did a fantastic job kneading the bread dough and didn’t seem to mind at all. Tasks lighter in weight, such as mixing cookie dough and cake batter, were a breeze, and we had way too much fun whipping up some heavy cream and turning it into our homemade butter.
Even though it shook a little when we were making bagel dough, it was never overly noisy, and we didn’t feel like we had to watch it all the time for fear of it falling off the counter. Having said that, we don’t think we’d make multiple batches of bagels in a row to avoid overheating the mixer’s lower-powered motor.

Should you buy KitchenAid Artisan Series 5-Qt?
If you’re looking for a sturdy stand mixer, the KitchenAid Artisan Series 5-Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer deserves a spot on your counter. It effortlessly whips, mixes, and kneads, and when you need it to do more, there are plenty of attachments to keep you occupied in the kitchen.
#2 - Best KitchenAid Stand Mixer For Experienced Or Expert Home Bakers - KitchenAid Professional 6500 Design Series Bowl-Lift
The KitchenAid 6-quart mixer is one of the best we tested. With the advantage is a large capacity, this stand mixer can simultaneously make 13 batches of cookies or more than eight loaves of bread. Moreover, It combines superior whipping, mixing, and kneading capabilities and the ability to accommodate a variety of power attachments, including a pasta maker and food grinder. The set includes a whisk, a flat beater, and a dough hook.
It features a glass bowl that allows for constant monitoring of mixtures, while the flex-edge beater aids in reducing mixing time. A robust motor enables the mixer to deliver consistent power to loads while generating less heat, resulting in years of trouble-free mixing.
- A DC motor provides highly accurate speed control.
- Extremely tranquil
- It does not tremble even when subjected to a heavy load
- It works wonders with tough dough.
- Effectively mixes and kneads
- Effective for both small and large volumes
- Elegant and lovely glass bowl
- Expensive
- The motor requires additional current to start.
- There is no lid on the glass bowl.
Design
The Professional 6500 Design Series comes complete with a stunning and elegant 6-quart glass bowl with a handle. The advantage is that you can see the contents and determine whether any portions are unmixed.
The disadvantage is that it is pretty heavy, especially when fully loaded. And, of course, caution must be exercised when handling glass. The glass bowl should not be microwaved. However, you may place it in the freezer or dishwasher.
This KitchenAid model features the company’s patented F-series coated flat beater and spiral dough hook, in addition to the standard six-wire whip. The coating is made of dishwasher-safe food-grade nylon. The spiral dough hook replicates the action of vigorous hand kneading.
Moreover, KitchenAid Professional Mixer 6500 includes a “soft start” feature that minimizes ingredient splatter, which is beneficial because glass bowl mixers do not have a pouring shield.
It is equipped with bowl-lifting mechanisms and planetary mixing mechanisms. KitchenAid’s 12 attachments are compatible with stand mixers via their power hubs.
Performance
The KitchenAid 6500 features a powerful 1.3 hp DC motor, which increases the price relative to other 6-quart models. A DC motor is typically more expensive than an AC motor. It does, however, have some advantages that may be advantageous for specific tasks.
A DC motor provides excellent speed control in a stand mixer. It maintains the mixer’s speed even when the load becomes denser, as when kneading dough. It doesn’t stall or jerk, and it never gets hot. That is why some claim the Professional 6500 runs smoothly and is significantly quieter. Additionally, it can withstand extended kneading without becoming hot or straining.
On the other hand, a DC motor requires a more incredible amount of current to operate. While this is not necessarily a disadvantage, they are more expensive than AC motors capable of performing the same function. To be sure, the Pro 6500 has a more powerful motor and is significantly more capable of handling heavy loads and large volumes.
The KitchenAid Professional 6500 mixer mixes and kneads bread dough and other doughs efficiently. Those who dislike noise will appreciate this because it is quiet. They feature ten-speed settings and an automatic shut-off feature that kicks in when the motor is overloaded.
Cleaning
The bowl, flat white beater, and white spiral dough hook are all dishwasher safe. Alternatively, thoroughly clean them in hot sudsy water and thoroughly rinse them before drying.
Hand wash and dry the wire whip, burnished spiral dough hook, and burnished flat beater immediately. Avoid storing beaters on the shaft.
Note:
- Always unplug the stand mixer before cleaning. With a soft, damp cloth, wipe the stand mixer.
- Do not use household/commercial cleaners. Avoid submerging in water.
- Wipe the beater shaft frequently to remove any accumulated residue.

Should you buy KitchenAid Professional 6500?
The Professional 6500 mixer is an upgrade from the Professional 600 Design. It features the same six qt glass bowl and accessories as the Professional 600 and Artisans AC mixers but with a 1.3 HP DC motor for quieter operation and the ability to run longer without overheating.
Additionally, it includes a sensor that assists in controlling mixer speeds and even detects overload, shutting down the mixer to prevent damage to the motor.
If you frequently prepare bread in multiple batches and have no financial constraints, KitchenAid Professional 6500 is the best solution for robustness and steady.
#3 - Best KitchenAid stand mixer for bread - KitchenAid KSM7586PCA 7-Quart Pro Line
KitchenAid is not a generic brand. With their machines appearing on television and in world-famous kitchens, it’s unsurprising that they continue to improve their work.
Their work ethic inspired the development of the KitchenAid 7-Quart Pro Line Stand Mixer, a machine capable of processing large amounts of dough effortlessly.
The KitchenAid Pro Line Series 7-Quart Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer is the largest capacity and most potent KitchenAid mixer available without venturing into commercial models, making it ideal for serious bakers. It’s perfect for bagel dough, pizza dough, thick noodle dough, bread dough, and double batches of recipes.
- Capacity is the largest of any residential model.
- When mixing, the bowl-lift design provides stability.
- A large mixing bowl for incorporating ingredients
- a robust motor capable of handling all types of doughs
- A handle is provided on the work bowl.
- Heavy
- Occupies a great deal of space
- Available in a limited number of colors
Design
Even though the Pro Line mixers are only available in four primary colors, they feature a double coating that imparts a luster customarily reserved for the Design series mixers.
KitchenAid Pro Line Series comes with a 7-quart size that can make up to 14 dozen cookies in a single batch. Although we haven’t ventured to test the limits of that claim, it made double batches of compost cookies and bagels with plenty of room to spare.
The large, easy-to-remove bowl features a large, comfortable handle and plenty of space for adding ingredients during mixing.
This KitchenAid stand mixer includes a wire whip, flat beater, and dough hook. The wire whip will assist you in quickly whipping cream, while the flat beater will undoubtedly become your best friend. Additionally, the dough hook will prevent sore shoulders by preparing perfect bread dough each day.
Performance
As any baker will attest, mixing speed is one of the characteristics that determine success or failure. Using the ten different speed settings, you can alternate between gently folding under eggs and whipping up a storm.
The KitchenAid KSM7586PSR is a true workhorse that excels in any setting. Whether you’re a casual baker or someone who needs to keep the cookies flowing daily, the KitchenAid KSM7586PSR is up to the task.
Doughs that are stiff or heavy, such as bagel dough, pizza dough, and some noodle doughs, require a lot of power to knead, taxing many stand mixers properly.
The 970 watt motor in the 7-Quart Pro-Line model ensures thorough kneading without overheating the mixer. Additionally, the more comprehensive bowl-lift design provides increased stability during mixing, reducing the amount of time the mixer “walks” or shakes during use.
While this may not sound impressive compared to the incredible things you can do with your KitchenAid stand mixer, a bowl lift feature is still one of the most convenient features a mixer can offer.
Moving the bowl is safer than driving the head or mixer itself, extending the expected life of your kitchen appliance while allowing for easy ingredient addition and stirring.
This is the model we relied on the most during our decade of experience working in professional kitchens. The machine is dependable, agile, simple to operate, and surprisingly quiet for such a large mixer. It is capable of whipping two egg whites as well as mixing triple batches of cake batter.
The KitchenAid Pro Line Series appliances come with a 5-year limited manufacturer’s warranty, compared to the standard 1-year warranty on other residential KitchenAid stand mixers.
Cleaning
While baking and cooking can be messy processes, the KitchenAid KSM7586PSR’s design makes clean up a little easier with an easy-to-clean exterior.
So simple that all that is required to clean your mixer is a damp cloth – though cleaning the accessories may be different.

Should you buy KitchenAid KSM7586PCA 7-Quart Pro Line?
With the KitchenAid Pro Line Stand Mixer, it’s difficult to go wrong. It’s a robust, powerful machine capable of handling dense doughs and a wide variety of ingredients.
Expert bakers, particularly those who make bread, will appreciate its dependability — these mixers saw heavy daily use in professional kitchens where we worked and rarely required repairs. If you take care of this mixer properly, it should last decades.
Having said that, it’s a substantial machine and not one you want to lug around, so it’s best suited to those with ample counter space to devote to its large footprint.
This KitchenAid mixer features a robust 1.3 horsepower DC motor. If you’re looking for mixers with larger capacities and powerful engines, this stand mixer may fit the bill.
#4 - Best KitchenAid stand mixer for small spaces - KitchenAid Artisan Mini 3.5 Quart
KitchenAid KSM3311XQG Artisan Mini 3.5 Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer, Qt, Liquid Graphite
KitchenAid Artisan Mini is a stand mixer that retains all of the beauty and power of a classic KitchenAid mixer but is significantly smaller and less expensive than larger models.
KitchenAid Artisan Mini 3.5 Quart is the smallest of KitchenAid’s stand mixers, is the ideal size and strength for occasional bakers, new cooks, and small kitchens. It is ideal for cookies, biscuits, muffins, pasta dough, and small-batch recipes.
- Ideal for small kitchens
- Simple to maneuver
- Makes an excellent single-batch.
- ideal for infrequent bakers
- suitable size for children
- A handle is attached to the work bowl.
- Insufficient capacity for double batches
- It shakes a lot when running at a high rate of speed
Design
It’s essentially a scaled-down version of the KitchenAid Artisan, with a 250w motor and a 3.3l bowl capacity. Additionally, it is designed to be 25% lighter, which makes transporting it more straightforward. Best of all, it shares the same aesthetic as its larger counterparts, ensuring that you don’t miss out on its lovely, classic design. Better still!
Even though this mixer is more expensive than the KitchenAid Classic Plus stand mixer, we believe you get what you pay for. When it came to ease of use, this mini mixer exceeded expectations. Also available in a variety of bright hues: 18 in all.
A smaller bowl (3.5 quarts instead of 5 or 6 quarts) and lighter weight than larger models distinguish the KitchenAid Mini from the classic KitchenAid mixer. It is also compatible with virtually every KitchenAid attachment.
Unlike other mixers, the box is lightweight, and the mixer weighs only 6.5kg. The mixer comes equipped with a stainless steel mixing bowl, a wire whisk, a dough hook, and a flat beater.
With its metal body and Empire Red color, the mixer is both sturdy and stylish. Additionally, we appreciated the attachments’ build quality, which is sturdy and built to last.
Additionally, the KitchenAid Mini fits neatly beneath low-hanging cabinetry or on cluttered worktops. A fantastic space-saver for kitchens with small to medium-sized cabinets!
Performance
Even for novice bakers like myself, the KitchenAid Mini is simple to operate. With a simple pull of the release and lock lever, you can quickly access the bowl and change attachments.
It features ten speeds ranging from 1/2 to the more powerful ten. While it may be less potent than its predecessor, it packs a punch when mixing complicated mixtures. Additionally, you will not need to increase the settings. This method, however, is most effective when dealing with smaller cake mixtures.
Despite its diminutive size, the Mini is more than capable of producing a single batch of cookies or biscuits. We’ve used the Mini to make muffins, pasta dough, bread dough, pizza dough, cake, frosting, and more cookies than we can count with no issues or adjustments to the recipe’s mixing times.
When we subjected my Mini to strenuous tests for this guide, it revealed several of its shortcomings. The work bowl was barely large enough to contain all the ingredients for compost cookies, but it began to overflow slightly when we turned on the mixer.
It struggled with only one recipe—the sticky, high-hydration pizza dough—but it made another pizza dough quickly. Bagel dough also came together quickly, but the mixer shook and “walked” around the counter during the lengthy kneading period, to the point where we felt compelled to keep an eye on it for the entire ten minutes it was mixing. However, it seems not to affect overall performance or results.
Cleaning
If you’re looking for hassle-free cleaning and maintenance, the KitchenAid Mini is an excellent choice. All dishwasher-safe items except the whisk, mixing bowl, flat beater, and bread dough hook.
However, even if you intend to reuse your mixing bowl immediately, the bowl is small enough to be hand-washed in a standard sink without taking up valuable space.
Avoid using abrasive cleaning materials to clean the mixing bowl, as they may scratch the interior. Additionally, you can wipe down the mixer with a damp cloth to keep it gleaming.

Should you buy KitchenAid Artisan Mini 3.5 Quart?
As with other stand mixers in the KitchenAid lineup, the KitchenAid Mini is not inexpensive. And, while the price may appear high for a mixer of this size, it is built to a high standard and performs admirably. Even at 250w, it is capable of whipping up delectable cakes and bakes and making delicious homemade bread.
This compact but powerful mixer is compatible with all power hub attachments, ensuring that you get the most out of your KitchenAid mixer. That said, if space is limited or you’re a casual baker, the Mini is an excellent choice for an unobtrusive machine that can perform nearly all of the functions of a full-size mixer.
#5 - Best for Kneading Bread - KitchenAid Professional 600 Series KP26M1XER Bowl-Lift
KitchenAid KP26M1XER 6 Qt. Professional 600 Series Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer - Empire Red
KitchenAid Pro 600 Stand Mixer is quite an impressive piece of equipment. It appears and feels as if it could last an eternity. It is cumbersome and has twice the power of a typical store-bought stand mixer. You’re going to want to keep this in a prominent location in your kitchen. With a weight of 29 pounds, you’re unlikely to move it very frequently.
This stand mixer is ideal for the power user or multi-tasker who requires much power and wishes to work with larger batches. Easier to work with than a tilt-head mixer due to the large open bowl-lift design. Compatible with a variety of KitchenAid attachments, ranging from an ice cream maker to a vegetable spiralizer.
Several features of this model are appealing. A powerful 575-watt motor, a large 6-quart stainless steel bowl, and a plethora of color options are available for this blender. This is the model to choose if you are looking for a good balance between power and affordability.
- A powerful 575-Watt motor.
- Over ten KitchenAid attachments are included.
- Excellent for tough, stiff dough.
- Soft-starting capability.
- Ten distinct speeds are available.
- Sturdy and dependable.
- Only a one-year warranty is included.
- There is no timer.
- It lacks overload protection.
- Attachments are not dishwasher safe.
Design
The design is straightforward and effective. The mixing bowl fits snugly on the heavy-duty arms, and the lever moves effortlessly up and down. As a result of the mixer’s design and weight, it remains stable on the kitchen counter while operating. This model is available in 15 different colors, so you’re sure to find one that complements your style.
The most noticeable difference between the KitchenAid Professional 600 and the iconic Artisan is the bowl-lift design. Rather than tilting the mixer head back and forth, the Professional loads the bowl onto two lever-assisted arms. This simplifies the process of adding ingredients to your bowl and enables a more powerful motor.
Additionally, the Professional 600 mixers are constructed entirely of metal and feature steel gears. The mixer weighs 31 pounds due to the hefty steel gears and metal construction.
The attachment hub is located on the front of the mixer, beneath the silver logo cap. This is our favorite feature of the KitchenAid Professional 600 mixer – the attachment hub enables you to use the mixer’s powerful motor to power various attachments.
You can add more attachments ranging from pasta rollers and cutters to spiralizers for vegetables to your mixer to transform it into an actual multitasking machine.
You’ll notice the speed control switch on the side. Accelerate by moving the speed control switch forward; decelerate by driving the speed control switch backward. The Professional 600 series features a slow-start feature that provides a brief delay before increasing speed, preventing food from flying out onto your counter.
Performance
The Professional 600 Series mixer is ideal for serious bakers. The 575-watt motor was found to be powerful enough to knead the dough for extended periods of time without causing damage to the machine, even when baking back-to-back bread loaves.
If this amount of power is applied to a tilt-head design mixer, it will shake and rattle excessively, eventually destroying the motor and possibly damaging the mixer as well.
This model includes a soft-start feature, which means the mixer will start at a slower speed, reducing the likelihood of spewing flour or splattering wet ingredients before they are completely incorporated.
To put the beater blade to the test, we made chocolate chip cookies, including chocolate chips, oats, and corn flakes. Compared to the smaller KitchenAid Artisan, the larger motor and bowl made it easier to make the cookies. When we can lower the bowl away from the mixer head and easily add ingredients, we have a much larger area to work with.
The KitchenAid Professional 600 did an excellent job of creaming together butter and sugar. The mixer thoroughly combined all ingredients, leaving no unmixed streaks. Due to the hefty design, there was no jumping around when adding solid chocolate chips and oats.
We tested the wire whip with two different amounts of egg whites. When egg whites are sufficiently whipped, they become foamy and fluffy and can make meringue or souffle. If you’ve ever attempted to do this by hand, you understand how strenuous it is.
We put the dough hook to the test by creating fresh pizza dough. Pizza dough is highly sticky and requires considerable effort to knead by hand. We did notice that it initially struggled to incorporate the ingredients. After adding all of the flour, the KitchenAid Professional 600 formed a stretchy dough ball and thoroughly mixed all of the ingredients, leaving nothing unmixed in the bottom of the bowl.
Cleaning
None of the tools are dishwasher safe; hand-wash only, or they will corrode over time if improperly cleaned.

Consider the Following When Purchasing the Best KitchenAid Stand Mixer
Having a powerful stand mixer on your countertop is something that every home baker dreams of having—and nobody makes a better stand mixer than KitchenAid. However, choosing which mixer to buy can be complicated because of the many models, styles, and options.
That depends on your baking needs, counter space, budget, and personal preferences. Check out our guide to mixer attachments after you’ve bought your dream mixer. Following your mixer purchase, review our guide to mixer attachments to maximize your new machine’s cooking and baking abilities.
Style
KitchenAid mixers come in two styles: tilt-head and bowl-lift.
- A tilt-head mixer’s motorhead pushes back to allow you to pour ingredients into the bowl and access the beater.
- A bowl-lift mixer is equipped with a lever that raises the bowl to the level of the beater.
- Additionally, a tilt-head “mini” model is available, lighter and more compact than a standard tilt-head mixer.
Dimensions and Capacity
Tilt-head mixers are typical of medium size, fitting comfortably beneath most cabinets and having a capacity of around 5 quarts. They are still quite heavy, approximately 26 pounds.
However, they are not as severe as bowl-lift mixers, which weigh between 29 and 30 pounds and have bowl capacities of up to 6 quarts. Due to their size is intended to be displayed on the counter, not hidden beneath a cabinet.
According to KitchenAid, the tilt-head model is designed for families or individuals who intend to use mixers daily. In contrast, the bowl-lift model is ideal for cooking for a crowd or handling heavy mixtures.
Power
We contacted the manufacturer to ascertain the wattage rating of each motor. Residential stand mixers range in power from 250 to 970 watts, and mixers with higher wattage motors are better suited for mixing heavy, wet doughs.
Attachments and Accessories
KitchenAid offers more than ten motor attachments for its stand mixers. Among them are a juicer, a food processor, a spiralizer, and a pasta roller. Additionally, helpful accessories such as pouring shields, pouring chutes, and covers are available.
FAQ
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.
KitchenAid does more than just mixer—they revolutionized the industry. The patented hub system enables the attachment of over a dozen accessories, transforming your mixer into a pasta machine, citrus juicer, meat grinder, ice cream maker, vegetable slicer, and sausage maker, among other things. Take pleasure in your upcoming culinary journey!
The pouring shield minimizes splash and flour puff while allowing for easy addition of liquids via the chute. Please keep in mind that the pouring shield is incompatible with the glass bowl.
Dishwasher safe for all bowls, and all attachments are included, except for the wire whisk. It would be best to wash the wires by hand to avoid damaging and prevent the alloy base from blackening, pitting, or becoming powdery.
The primary distinction between tilt-heads and bowl-lifts is the method of attaching and accessing bowls:
- The tilt-head mixer’s top hinges back to allow you to twist the bowl onto the base.
- The bowl-lift mixer has a fixed head and a lever that raises and lowers the bowl for mixing or adding ingredients.
Conclusion
When looking for the best stand mixers, KitchenAid products appear at the top of the list. This means that it is because it has been such a trusted brand name for nearly 100 years, and has some of the highest customer ratings of any product sold online, that it has received such positive feedback.
