Higher value per dollar than any other set of kitchen knives. I purchased these knives when they were on sale last black friday. The price per knife worked out to around 45 dollars, which is unbeatable when compared with other Wusthof, Henckel, or Victorinox knives. This was a rare deal that was actually a deal rather than a discount from an inflated price to actual market value. The three larger knives each come in an individual cardboard sleeve, while the paring knives have their own box. A magnetic strip would be ideal for storing these knives, but the box is a nice touch. The unboxing experience was certainly befitting of the Wusthof name. All of the knives are exceptionally sharp. They will cut through anything as though it was crepe paper. This also applies to human skin, so ensure that you are using each knife correctly and treating them with the respect they deserve. The steel is of standard German quality, holding an edge very well while preserving tensile strength. Proper maintenance of the knife edge is crucial to ensuring these knives will always be as sharp as (or sharper than) the day you first used them, but the longevity of the edge means less maintenannce is required as opposed to a knife made of softer steel. The nakiri that comes with this set is sharpened on both sides at 15 degrees. This may be a dealbreaker for some, but true nakiris are not likely to be as inexpensive as the americanized version. The other knives are also sharpened at the same bevel. Both the nakiri and carving knife have a hollow edge, which allows for food to be pushed off of the knife so that the user may chop quickly without having to clear the blade frequently. This is obviously extremely useful for starchy vegetables and other other foods that tend to hold onto the blade. The utility knife is a workhorse, performing exactly as it was designed to perform. While smaller than a chef’s knife, the utility knife is still extremely versatile and will be used very heavily across a multitude of tasks. It’s size prevents it from being unwieldy, allowing for better control of the blade and more comfort on the users end. Each knife is perfectly balanced and a joy to simply hold in ones hand. The full tang allows for exceptional rigidity and control, promoting ease of use and comfort. The handles are all plastic, but at this price point the materials budget is better spent on the steel rather than handles made out of wood or unique metal alloys.Overall, any amateur or professional chef would be well pleased with this set of knives. While not as high performing as carbon steel, these knives are made of superior steel that will suit all but the most discerning users. These knives will last a lifetime if properly maintained and provide one of the most opulent experiences the home user can have.
Beyond Amazing, So Sharp, Great Value. Got as a gift for my wife since out previous set was getting a little long in the tooth. They are amazing. So sharp, so easy to use. The Nakiri is a Godsend. My wife doesn’t dread vegtable prep anymore and has started cooming more readily. When I prep, it is faster and more consistant. I am not fighting to draw the blade through a tomato skin. Absolutely plan to buy more.
Great. Good German quality
Take it like it is. Fine knife.Excellent metallurgy makes this knife as sharp as anyone would want or need of an out of the box knife. If you don’t already have a diamond infused rod, buy one at Cabella’s, or some other knife or accoutrements shop ( don’t buy one of those aluminum hollow lightweight jobs. They are junk). A quality knife like this only needs a light dressing with a diamond rod every now or then. This “dressing” is only needed to fine tune this edge, because the edge will microscopically “peel over” from use, (look it up). All edges do this, so don’t worry. Don’t be too vigorous with any sharpening efforts. If properly maintained, the blade will deliver shave ready performance. If you’re not sure how to deal with an edged tool such as this one, then wrap it in a towel and take it to your local butcher for some advise, or do some research for God’s sake. They will be no doubt be agreeable to show you the best way to keep this blade at a top performance level. The high carbon and nickle steel this piece of metal has, coupled with the pretty decent factory sharpening, combine to deliver the ability to satisfy the average consumer. If you’re not “into” such things, that’s fine too. This knife, out of the box, will display a fine edge for as long as you own it. It will eventually degrade in it’s performance, and that is the signal to take it to your local butcher. They make their living using knives, and know the physics of edge dressing quite well. Please don’t run it through a knife sharpener made of carbide. It will never be the same after that. Learn how to hone a knife gently, and to make it efficient for you. They’re all begging for an edge, and it’s up for the challenge. I’ve always maintained that the Solingen region of Germany produces some of the finest metallurgical tools on earth. They scan their ware with a scanning electron microscope, examine the crystalline atomic structures of the metal they’re working with, so they get it right. Yeah, this knife costs a lotta bread, but it just may be the last knife you ever have to buy. If I can afford this, you certainley can.
The Name Says It All. Wüsthof knives are a serious home cook’s best friend. Heavier knives with a center balance, Wüsthof knives’ rust-free stainless steel holds its edge without the constant babysitting carbon-steel professional chefs’ knives require.I’ve used a Wüsthof 8” chef knife for a decade, so I was a bit skeptical about changing to a butcher knife. I needn’t have worried! The straight edge on the butcher knife is, in fact, easier to use than the curved blade of the chef knife. This set is a good deal if you’re looking to build a knife stock. You can’t go wrong with these Solingen-made beauties.
Very nice knife. Skip on the imitation fake stuff and get yourself a quality authentic German or Japanese knife. Very pleased with this knife. What stands out to me the most are 2 things: The cutting is good (although to be completely honest I have had sharper) and the handle is very good. I find the handle to be very comfortable and very pleasing to touch. Very happy with this knife overall and will be looking at this brand again in the future.
Great all around knife. Decided to finally get decent kitchen knives and didn’t want to waste money on a knife set that had several knifes I’d never use. So I decided to buy them individually and get exactly what I wanted. This knife is a great all around knife. I wanted it because it has a little more weight behind it. I use it for veggies but is also good for big meat cuts where a hit from a rubber mallet is needed
Buy One! Worth the money. So wonderful! Bought a second to gift to my grandson who loves to cook. Everything I cut into seems like butter.
This item is so sharp and light! Very well suited for everyday use. Its edge is easy to wear off after a week of use so you need a good sharpener.
I’m upgrading my Sabatier knives and have chosen to replace them with Wusthof which have an excellent reputation being made in Solingen, Germany. On receipt, I carefully unpacked it and washed it well in warm, soapy water, making certain to rinse and thoroughly dry it before storing it in a knife block. The knife comes with a small plastic guard covering the tip and should be removed with care. I cannot stress sufficiently that this knife is razor sharp and needs handling with respect. It performed like a dream when I carved a small ham, the blade sliding easily through the meat without effort producing thin, even slices. I can truthfully say that Wusthof knives outperform anything else on the market and although at first they might appear expensive, every penny spent on them is well worth it as they are REAL quality and well cared for will last a lifetime.
Desossage de gigot
Strong and firm knife in hand. Very useful for those who are in search for a knife specifically for veggies. The blade is very sharp and the built quality is very nice. It is however a heavier knife compared to mid-class daily use knives e.g. Victorinox Santoku.
This is our favourite knife for chopping vegetables. The “flat” tip may look strange at first, because it is a bit strange, but it’s strange in a way that actually turns a simple knife into a conversation piece if someone catches you using it that isn’t familiar with Japanese knives and we found it actually serves a purpose for us, though honestly I couldn’t say whether it is the same purpose the original designers were thinking.1) As usual this is a well balanced forged knife with a quality handle that cleans up easily, doesn’t deteriorate and doesn’t collect bits of food in any seams.2) The blade is good and sharp right out of the package and remains that way for a long time as long as you take care of it (hand wash, use only cutting surfaces softer than the steel, dry immediately). The “Granton” divets do work to reduce the amount of sticking of wet firm vegetables.3) The flat edge is actually useful. When chopping large vegetables, you don’t need a pointy edge as you have no room to “roll” the blade anyway and you’re definitely not poking anything. But that flat edge, for us, is actually really useful for pushing the chopped food out of the way to keep going without having to drag the sharp blade edge against your cutting surface which will dull it. Hey, works for us…Really don’t have anything negative to say about this knife, if you do purchase one you’ll enjoy it.

Consider this Wüsthof 6-inch utility knife a reliable complement to your preferred chef’s knife. The blade was forged in Germany from stainless steel and is designed for various smaller tasks, such as slicing fruit and mincing herbs. The full-tang construction provides balance, and the curved black polymer handle is easy to clean and grip. One enthusiastic Amazon reviewer compared its use to “slicing butter with a hot knife,” which likely contributes to its 4.8-star rating.

This knife has all the characteristics of a high-quality stainless-steel knife. It is well-balanced with a comfortable grip and easily slices meat and vegetables. I anticipate that this knife will be used for many years to come.

Perfect, solid, sharp & professional quality. I have a nice set of kitchen knives but they were mixed (some Wüsthof, some H*#kles, some others) and the Wüsthof were by far the best. They stayed sharp and sharpened much better/easier than the others. One of the others had a tip break off during regular / non forceful use. Anyhow, I decided to replace the 6 “other” knives with new Wüsthof knives and stuck with the “Classic” line. It’s an unbelievably nice upgrade. Sure they’re expensive but they are totally worth it. The “other” knives were probably 1/2 the cost, maybe more or less, but over the last 5 years they all had to be replaced. Now we have a NICE knife set that should last forever…
Great knife! Very sharp and functional. The review below is very similar to my review of the wusthof Classic 8″ knife since they’re very much alike, besides the very obvious size difference. This is a great knife. I was originally going to buy an entire set as a gift to my mom, but after much thought – realized that it’s better to spend the money on a few quality knives than buying a set where most of the knives are rarely used. After some reading and research, I decided on the 8-inch cook’s knife and this 4.5″ utility knife. I’m very happy on my decision, and so is my mom. The large knife is used for most meal prep, and the smaller knife is used for more delicate cutting (for fruits, etc.)This knife cuts beautifully and feels great in your hand. It retains its sharpness and looks good too. In fact, everyone who came to visit during the holidays and spent some time in the kitchen for meal prep, exclaimed (unprompted) how great these knives were. They’re unbelievably sharp, cutting through meat, cooked conch, vegetables, fruits, and so much more with great ease. The splurge on the Wusthof Classic line is well worth it. They have several others, such as the gourmet line, which are cheaper, so be careful when you’re looking. The classic line is full tang (blade is forged from a single piece of metal and extends into the entire length of the handle), and are therefore much more durable and feel a lot better in your hand. I’d highly suggest giving lots of thought into getting really great knives, and think about the knives you use most (i.e. if you don’t often eat bread, a really expensive bread knife really isn’t a must) when making a purchase like this one.Meals together is a big part of our family, and cooking a meal together as a family when we’re all home for the holidays means a lot to all of us. Having a great knife to ease through the long process of preparing a good meal really does make a huge difference. I think this knife will last for a really long time, and am glad to have added it to the collection at home.Minor note: I noticed that the red wusthof square sticker is just that…a sticker. I was shocked at having a sticker as a logo on such an expensive knife, and even doubted its authenticity. A bit of Google research showed that yes, indeed, wusthof classic knives have a red logo sticker on them that would probably come off after some use. It’s not biggie – just peel it off if it bothers you, and continue to use the knife for all of it’s amazing qualities regardless.
Easily sharpened. Replacing a Cutco serrated knife of similar size with a straight edge I can sharpen myself instead of having to send it back to Cutco to have sharpened. It’s a knife I use every day, several times a day. It was getting dull & I kept putting off sending it to get sharpened. It’s good for slicing anything from sandwiches to tomatoes & onions. It is immediately comfortable in your hand, good weight & well balanced. It came out of the box razor sharp ready for use.
Perfectly Balanced and Versatile. The Wusthof 4 1/2 Inch Utility Knife is perfect for almost any small to medium size job in the kitchen. It is exceptionally well balanced and almost infinitely adaptable. The knife is amazingly sharp when it comes out of the box, and holds a great edge even after a lot of use. I find this knife to be my personal cutting implement of choice when I need something smaller than a boning knife.Wusthof knives have been in my kitchen for years and they are the best knives I have ever used. I used to be a chef in a gourmet beef restaurant and I would have loved to have had a set of Wusthofs then. Now I have my own set, but of all the knives in my kitchen I think this one probably gets the most use. Buy a Wusthof once, and never replace it: they are expensive but worth every penny.
This Is Quality. I was searching for quality knives at a reasonable price that would last the rest of my lifetime. I looked at many sets within my price range. I was going to buy the Victorinox knives with the Fibrox handles. I am so glad I didn’t. I went to a local store to see the Victorinox knives in person. The Fibrox handles feel like cheap plastic in my hand. When I got my Wusthof knife I knew before touching it that it is far better. Side by side, the Wusthof just looks more expensive. The handle is not too flat. It a bit thicker so I can get a good grip. That control is important especially when using the 3 1/2 inch knife to peel potatoes.I cannot give a review on the blade yet because I’m moving and have to store this set till we are at our new home. I am impressed enough with these knives to order several other sizes. I’m actually proud and excited to own these knives. They are better than expected. Don’t hesitate to purchase them. They are worth the price.
High quality 👌 wusthof is the way to go. 5 stars. Cuts like butter right out of the box and holds its edge, super ergonomic feel. I love wusthof i have 3 so far but i will have much more eventually. I cook for a living and i spend most of my time in the kitchen so i need reliable good quality blades in my knife roll, if you are a chef like me or even just a home cook i highly recommend wusthof.
Ourstanding. We love this knife. The blade is amazing. Looking forward to using it for many years.
Expensive but well worth it. In many cases one still gets what they pay for, with this knife serving as an excellent example. It’s very well made, nicely shaped and balanced and comes with a nicely sharpened blade from the factory. It’s also easy to resharpen and holds a fine edge with ease.
Muy buen cuchillo!
I love the Wusthof Classic range because the blades are super sharp and great quality (actually the same blades they use in their more expensive Ikon range). The full tang give the knives real balance in your hand and is a joy to use.Personal preference for me is to have a full bolster on my smaller knives like this one (mainly because i have big hands) and half bolster on my larger blades.
Ottima finitura, ben bilanciato e affilato. Wüsthof tiene fede alla tradizione di qualità. Per ora, acquisto ottimo. Consigliatissimo
Great knife, really sharp right out of the box. Pret a couper.

Excellent knife. Fast becoming the knife I reach for every time! Nice weight, sharp edge, nice length.
Perfect knife. Needed a replacement for my knife set. I think one of my kids threw away my last one. Very sturdy and sharp. Can’t go wrong with anything Henckels to be honest.
Great knife. I love this knife and I use it every day for everything. Its sharp and cuts meat, vegetables and fruits very well.
Perfectly sharp. I can’t say enough good things about Henckels Classic knives. They cut well, with handles that are easy to hold, and have a good balance. They are durable and dependable. Used this knife last night to slice a pork tenderloin, and it cut like butter. I have a couple other Henckels knives with molded handles, and enjoy those too – but the Classic line absolutely ups the quality a little. These have become my go-to knives.
Hard to find one inch deep blade, also it’s high quality, raising my rating of this to the highest. This is my third order of this knife. Before, I wrote that this knife looks like a high quality German knife. It has a very nice grip, is very ergonomic. It also was THE ONLY knife of this size anywhere on the internet. It is one inch deep, which is very hard to find in a 6 inch knife. Most of the deep knives are much longer and much deeper, like meat cleavers. I wanted one just to cut Honeydew, primarily ( I am afraid of the much bigger knives) I needed this size, substantial but not huge.In my first review I wrote that every time I make that first cut into a melon, I have to push hard. I thought that the end, the tip, should be sharper. But after having this knife ( now three orders of it), I feel that it is an excellent knife. It is very high quality for the money. I am now used to using it. My family members like it so much that I have now ordered this third one. I decided this is the best knife on the market for this size. I recommend it very highly now.
quality hard steel knife. These Henckel knives are beautifully made however the steel in the blade is very hard consequently is hard to get sharp and to keep sharp. The best knife (dirk) I ever saw was hand made out of a file. My grandfather, a barber, carried it during the KKK days in Yoakum, Texas in the 1920/30’s and to this day is as sharp as a razor. Anyway, these are great knives for cutting vegetables etc. Fits in my hand nicely and is easy to clean. Pay the extra $ for the quality, bar the knife going down a disposal it will last a lifetime with normal use. Henckel Co., soften your steel just a tad and you will get 5 stars forever on this knife from everyone!!!!!! BTW, the art of sharpening knives was passed down to me by my father so it’s not the sharpeners fault. Maybe they come in softer grades of steel you may want to check on that. I carry a Sog Twitch II pocketknife and I could shave with it if necessary.
Nice, sharp functional kitchen knife. Packaging is good, the knife arrived in perfect condition. Knife is very sharp right out of the box. Feels light in my hand, nicely balanced. The handle is perfect for medium sized male hands, probably a little small for men with large hands. I think most women would find this a nice fit. Well made, with a nice overall finish and solid construction. Should last a lifetime.UPDATE!Still five stars! After one month using this knife every day for cutting anything, fruits, vegetables, meats, and product packaging, this knife is just as sharp as the first day I used it. I use this knife for anything and everything in the kitchen, it’s become my go to knife. After a month of continuous use I haven’t had to sharpen it at all, not even touching the edge up on a steel.
Useful. I find myself using this knife quite a bit—it’s big enough to handle a cantaloupe but small enough to work really well for slicing shallots. I’ve had it about a month and it’s still really sharp. It’s pretty light, so easy to control. The only downside is the blade isn’t shaped to allow that rocking cut for mincing, but otherwise I really like it. (Although I have pretty small hands; it might be a little hard to handle for someone with big hands.)
Excellente qualité et bon prix

Sharp, great price, good weight and balance, and comes with a sharpening cover. This is the best paring knife that I have ever had, including my expensive one. It is very sharp, and it is comfortable to hold. I like that it comes with a blade cover, and that it has a sharpener in it so that it gets a bit of sharpening ever time you use it. The price is very reasonable at $6.99. I am very pleased with this knife.
Best knife ever. Excellent Farberware 5″ Santoku knife.***Pros***This knife is excellent. I love Santoku knives for cutting vegetables and sometimes even use it for meat. This knife is sharp, cuts well, and comes with a sharpening sleeve (which I have misplaced so it is not pictured, but it did come with it!). I will definitely be buying more of these!***Cons***I would recommend replacing all your knives with sharp ones. We purchased this knife which is very sharp and I accidentally cut myself a little bit because I was so used to how my dull knives cut. That is not a flaw of the product, but instead a flaw in how my dull knives trained me to be lax on kitchen safety and was worth mentioning so that you are more careful. This is a great knife and the sharpness is an attribute. 100% I will be purchasing this again, 5/5 stars. No complaints.
Very Sharp. Definitely razor sharp. I cut my finger the first day while cleaning it and my sponge slipped. It was not a fun moment and now a little afraid to use it. However, it is sharp because I did not even felt the cut. So please be very careful.
Sharp. This little knife is awesome. Maybe a teeny bit long for pairing something small but for everything else it’s great. Every time I use it wash it and dry it I sharpen it in the built-in sharpener so it’s ready for the next time. It’s perfect. You got to get one. I’m buying more.
Best Kitchen Knife. LOVE this knife! Had for several months and cuts everything without resistance. Fits the hand and not heavy. Easy to remove and replace in sheath. My go-to knife for everything in the kitchen! AND I would prefer to do anything but COOK…so this review says alot!
Nice little paring knife. Makes a good addition to a lunchbox or picnic basket, with the sheath and it’s sharp!
Poor Quality of Metal & Unsafe Design. I would like to start by simply saying, you get what you pay for.I am a knife/blade collector, I collect any kinds of blades, whether it be knives, swords, machetes, axes, so I know a good blade when I see/use one. First off, the metal used for this cleaver is very weak. So weak in fact that when I put it in the sheath and took it back out, it got stuck on part of the plastic and it took the edge off that part of the blade. Plastic shouldn’t bend or chip metal ever. The cleaver is not very heavy, so if you plan on using this cleaver rather than it being a display piece, save yourself the hassle and get something worth chopping with.As for this not being safe, there are two concerns/observations. First, all around the cleaver where the blade IS NOT, is sharp, like every machined edge is sharp enough to cut yourself on if you arent careful or if your hand slips. Not as sharp as the blade itself, but still something to be aware of. The second safety issue is the positioning of the handle relative to the blade. Its almost like the handle is formed and angled in the perfect way for someone to cut themselves. What I mean by this is when I first held the cleaver, I had uncurled my middle finger(aka extended it out to where its not around the handle) and when I was bringing my finger back to the position around the handle, my finger hit the blade and cut it. Luckily it didn’t go deep, but I guarantee it easily could have.Overall, only buy this if you either are going to use it for display or if you want a garbage kitchen tool. The only good thing I can say is that it comes sharp enough to shave hair off my arm.
Works. Nice to have sharpener attachment
Llego rápido, descripción coincide con lo entregado. Buena calidad.

Great knives. These are great knives! Thin, balanced, and arrive ultra sharp. This particular knife is slightly larger than the paring knife. Great for deboning meat. I don’t usually give out 5 stars but this deserves it.
Really like the Myabi knives. Knives are very sharp. Wife uses it for thinly slicing jerky for our dogs. She loves the ease of use and not having to push through meat. A little small for me however I have the 8″ and 10″ and love those.

Beautiful knife for small hands. Absolutely wonderful to hold. This is a beautifully weighted piece, a joy to hold in your hands. I have small, wide hands and this feels like a dream in them. Perfectly weighted, with a beautiful and comfortable handle that cleans easily and gives just enough grip to keep it secure when not too goop-y. If you’re doing really messy tasks with wet hands this might not be enough of a grip for you, but personally I like metal and other smooth surfaces over grippier rubber or silicone. Looks prettier and I feel like it stays nicer for longer. Comes sharp but not razor sharp. For that you’ll have to break out your sharpening stones, but whyever would you want to pack and ship a knife razor sharp??? You need stones to maintain a decent edge anyway, so you might as well have some around. Anyway, it’s still sharp enough to use right out of the box, so w/e.Ships with a tip protector, in a lovely box. Good for someone who wants a nice kitchen knife that is *practical* but still a joy to use and decent to look at. Nice, without getting crazy on the price. Pretty and comfortable with a good edge, but not so crazy that if you mess it up somehow you’re out a grand. And not so delicate that it needs oiling all the time, or so brittle that the slightest fumble breaks off chips. All’s good with it so far, and it’s feeling like a real steal for the price. Haven’t managed to break it yet and I’m rough on knifes (I’m not great at knife skills, and tend to be clumsy). If I manage to keep this in good shape with time, I might end up getting a whole set, or at least a chef knife 🤔
Weight, balance, hand feel beauty and sharpness. Better than expected. 👍🏻. My Nikiri came today and in time to prepare a steak shish-a-bob on the grill. Out of the box the knife is a beauty. It is sharp, well balanced, a perfect weight, and easy to hold. Some reviewers complained about the handle being too slick. I use a pinch grip and have had no issues so far. I gave it a couple licks on my ceramic honing rod and it cut through the steak like a hot knife through butter. I didn’t need to hone it out of the box, habit took over without thinking. Veggies too yielded easily under the blade as I would expect them to. One of the deciding factors for me is that it is a 7” knife and the oval handle shape. I don’t care for slab sided handles. The 6” Nikiri knives are too short for the way I cut vegetables. All-in-all it is a great value and once I’m used to it, I’m certain it will have a permanent and well used slot in my knife block.Yes, I would recommend this knife to a friend. 👍🏻
It chops, minces, dices but its heavy. Vegtable and herb cleaver, somewhat heavy even though it has good balance. The handle is just as heavy as the body of the blade, together making for a heavy nakiri. It is priced well, and the manufacturing is clean with no burrs or visible defect. The choil is nice and rounded for finger placement. The pinch grip is the best position to hold the knife. The spine is rounded and good for finger placement when extra pressure is needed. Its got decent sharpnest about “4/5”. It could use a bit on the strope. It is a nice knife to look at, ok to hold and handle, cuts well as directed. I used it on bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, and sundried tomatoes. The knife did a good job and I didnt feel fatigued or have any misdirected cuts. I would look for something lighter as I feel this is a bit heavy coming in at 314 grams for extended periods of use. Overall I would give this knife 6.5/10.
Really Cutting Edge Technology. Love this blade. Feels and performs like a professional knife. The media could not be loaded.  After having this knife for a while, it does not even dull on me even when it touches the cutting board at every slice. This tends to dull any knife except for this one. It’s not too heavy and it is easy to handle and control. I felt like a professional chef every time I hold this knife. Of course it can cut other stuff like meat. The real test is the hardest thing to cut through which was an apple. Even though it may look like I am struggling is because I didn’t have enough space in my area to work with. Otherwise, I would have cut straight through like butter such as the other slices shown in the video. It is crafted with a strong full tang so no more loose handles. My friends were impressed about the packaging and how sharp it is.
A Nice Addition to My Knife Set. I’m an experienced restaurant chef – just not in Michelin star restaurants, but more like the popular and high quality local restaurants that everybody can afford… I wanted a Nakiri to expand my skillset with this type of knife, and the Sunnecko 7″ Nakiri has been a wonderful addition in my kitchen. I like that the blade is relatively thin compared to my traditional Western-style 8″ chef knife. The Nakiri makes vegetable prep fast and easy, and the rectangular shape of the blade makes for an easy slice/scoop/drop for the veg. I certainly suggest that those looking for a quality Nakiri that won’t break the bank, start with this offering from Sunnecko.
So far… this is a great knife and value. First, let me say the knife I received is very sharp. The steel (allegedly/hopefully) used is excellent, only exceeded by VG-Max in professional knives. A similar VG-Max knife would cost about $180.The design has good balance and the straight blade has so many uses.I loved the warning note stating that if you drop the knife, do not try to catch it! That’s a great thing to include with any straight blade knife (any knife really, but especially a straight blade).I’ll post edge retention and sharpening notes/updates. So far this is a great knife at a great price.
Love the mini-Santoku. This is a great price for a very good product. The smaller format Santoku style blade with the granton edge scallops to release sliced food – a great addition to my kitchen knives. We reach for this knife ALL the time now, and I have twelve knives in to blocks, most of which I paid far more for than this one. I liked it so well I sent one to each of my daughters as gifts.
This is a very good knife, beautifully presented in a handsome box that would be very suitable for use as a gift. The handle is pleasant to hold, and the knife has been ergonomically designed; it is well-balanced and getting a strong grip is easy. It’s extremely sharp right out of the box and is (pun intended) a cut above most knives. The price (£69.99 at the time of writing) is quite high, but this is a very high quality knife that should give years of use. Recommended.
It’s packaged really nice with protective cover around the knife and all the essential information to get you started with the product. At first glance, I started to appreciate the curvy design on the knife comparing to my older one. The sharpness is leagues above my old knife and it was scary at first to use since I could only think of using it slowly and delicately to avoid any cuts. The handle looks beautiful and is easy to hold, the main body has some weight to it that you can feel. This was an unusual feeling at first, but slowly I got used to it.So far I’m satisfied with this product, I’m still wary about trying to use it fast since I have had cuts in the past and I don’t want this to be anyway near my fingers to be honest with you!
The media could not be loaded.  Waste of money very Heavy not as sharp as cheaper knifes bought and Rusty after couple weeks and looks rubbish
The knife arrived in a slimline gift box, the knife is protected inside with foam inserts and a plastic removable tip, it would be best to open the box on a flat surface to ensure the knife hasn’t slipped out of its location and falls as you open the lid.Upon inspecting I noticed pretty quickly that the knife is really well made, the blade is made from a 73-layer Damascus VG-10 stainless steel and is 60 on the Rockwell hardness chart, VG-10 is a cutlery grade stainless steel produced in Japan, the steel is full length from tip to base measuring 323mm roughly. The handle measures roughly 120mm long and the centre appears to be machined out and inserted using G-10 fibreglass, G-10 is favoured for its high strength, low moisture absorption, and high level of electrical insulation and chemical resistance, the handle is finished off with a lovely copper mosaic rivet in the centre. The blade is very sharp and is a joy to use, the blade edge roughly measures 203mm, it feels lovely to hold and is perfectly balanced, it glides through meat/veg.Overall, a stunningly well designed and manufactured knife that’s a joy to use and has a unique appearance with the Damascus pattern, thank you.

There are numerous utility knives priced between $25 and $60, and not all of them are of high quality. We would estimate that most of them are not worth their prices. This knife is, fortunately, one of the options in this price range that consumers should consider.

This is because, despite its lower price, this knife is constructed to be durable, sharp, and long-lasting. The blade of this knife was constructed with a Japanese VG-10 core and thirty-six layers of stainless steel on each side by its manufacturer. The material is then forged using an ancient Japanese technique to produce Damascus steel that is more advanced than high-carbon steel knives.

This knife’s blade is not the only noteworthy feature of this high-quality knife. Additionally, the knife’s balance and construction contribute to its desirability. This 5-inch knife has an ergonomically curved handle, and the entire knife is perfectly balanced.

Also noteworthy is that this knife is sharp upon first use and remains so for a considerable time. When the time comes to sharpen it, it is straightforward and requires little effort. The combination of these features makes this knife ideal for chopping vegetables, slicing bread, and virtually any other task.

Key Features
  • Blade Length: 5 Inches
  • Handle Material: Ceramic
  • Blade Material: 73-layer Damascus Steel VG10
  • Ultra sharp narrow blade with a pointed tip
  • Perfect balanced & Comfort grip handle

Perfect kitchen tool. This has been our number one knife for at least seven years. Even when it had dulled a bit and never quite got back the perfect edge (even after sending it out for professional sharpening), it was still the best knife in our kitchen. So… we bought a second. And the 7yo knife, when run through the sharpener, slices almost as well as the new one, and the new one is unbelievably sharp, precise, and lightning quick. You can just REST the knife edge on a whole tomato and it will literally seem to fall through! One of the best quality knives you can own.
My one indispensable knife. OK, I have other Henckels knives, and like them all, but this is the knife that quickly became the one that I turn to first for all but the biggest slicing/chopping tasks. The size of this knife is just right. The blade is a good length for so many garden variety kitchen tasks, and the handle and heft just feel good and solid in the hand. The superior sharpness has been easy to maintain with an occasional swipe on the steel–even after much use. I like and use it so much that I have started giving it as a gift item. Everyone loves it.
Sharp. Great knife to work with
Knife overview from a food guy. I own several of the Henckel Four Star (but the Classic line is just as good) knives and have found little reason to succumb to marketing for higher priced knives. Using what I found to be a superior sharpening system (Edge Pro), the sharpness of my Henckel knives rivals the Wusthof and Shun lines (which I tried recently at W-S). Anything over 0.5 carbon is “high carbon” and will sharpen and hold an edge well; the VG-10 is 1.03 but in my opinion is overkill; I purchased one VG-10 and could not get it any sharper than my Henckels, so my son received a gift for his “kitchen”.I have yet found reason or purpose to buy beyond the following edge products (all Henckel but bread knife excluded):-10″ chef’s knife-6″ chef’s knife-6″ utility knife-3.5″ paring knife-boning knife (not filet)-take apart shears-Granton edge carving knife and fork+Forschner-Victorinox bread knife (sorry, Henckel)Ok I did succumb to buying a matching fork, but when you have guests over for dinner, it looks nicer and the fork won’t wear out. Anything beyond the regular handle is higher profit for the knife company; if you are holding you knife correctly, you won’t need the higher cost handles.I use both a smooth metal honing rod and a 1200 grit ceramic honing rod ($30 from Edge Pro unless you feel like paying someone more). I use the smooth metal prior to each use; ceramic once in a while, Edge Pro once every 3-6 months and even then only the two ceramic stones (unless the edge became bent on something).Don’t put in dishwasher…stuff bumps together, other dishware thrown on top of the knife, and could damage the edge.Use only end grain cutting boards…I have truly found that it does not degrade the edge as much as plastic resin, or other types of wood cutting boards…Amazon has very good prices on Catskill brand. Read up on […] for more on cutting boards and try different ones out for yourself as have I.Since I mentioned names, neither I nor my family have any financial interest or exchange with any of the companies referred to above. Just a well-informed consumer who continues to improve culinary skills by education and practice.
Great Product—but non-existent Amazon Service. This is a superb product, and this cutlery usually last a lifetime. I ordered it be cause we broke our other one by dropping it just right – and it snapped at the hilt! Very strange indeed. But I’m thankful that we were able to exactly replace it in our knife-block set after 20 years. We have purchased many products for many years from Amazon. Most all purchases were completely satisfactory. This particular one, for some reason, was NEVER even email-confirmed by Amazon! We got NO purchase confirmation, NO shipping confirmation, and NO notice of how or when it would be delivered! It eventually showed up at the Post Office-ony after I finally tracked down the stated shipping method-which said FEDEX!
Serious cooks know that good knives and good pans give more pleasure to cooking. Serious cooks know that good knives and good pans give more pleasure to cooking than any other implements. I won’t compromise on either. I have owned this same knife for over 30 years but didn’t want to pay the substantial cost that professional sharpeners charge these days nor did I know how I would make do without it during the wait time it would take to send it out for sharpening from my small rural town. Can you believe it took 30 years for me to even sense it was becoming just a little too dull? The abuse it took over the years and still stood up! It never let me down. Just that I was struggling a little bit harder to cut so I broke down and bought a new one. Expensive? Yes. Cost effective? Yes. This knife has easily outlasted 10 cheaper knives put together and yet I still have the investment made in my older that will sharpen like new if I ever I get around to having it sharpened. I was half expecting that the newer one would not be the same quality with all the cutting corners going on these days, but it was made exactly as the original! My background and education is in science and I’m prone to obsessively researching everything before I buy. But back in my novice days (I now own over 400 cookbooks and cook 6 cuisines reasonably well) I relied on other’s advice. Pierre Franey advised: your starter set of knives should be three: a 10 inch French chef, 7 inch utility and 3 inch paring. You can do everything with these three essentials. I’ve since found a serrated bread knife to be useful, as well as a cleaver and boning knife…but the utility knife is the most useful of all. I guess that’s why they call it a utility knife. Don’t skimp on your utility knife!
Happy. I’ve had swilling henckel knives for at least 30 years. I wouldn’t buy another brand. I had to buy this knife because my husband broke the tip using it as a tool. Lol
Filled out my set of quality Henckels Knives. Just the right in between size. Works well for those tasks like a rotisserie chicken. Holds a sharp edge and comfortable in the hand. Is it giftable? I guess but I was taught that a gift with a warranty isn’t really a gift….

ZWILLING J.A. Henckels’ best-selling knife series worldwide. This celebrated collection exemplifies safety, ergonomics, and comfort, as it has been honed and hand-finished by the most skilled artisans. Because of the smooth transition from bolster to handle, the knives are comfortable to use for extended periods of time.

The bolster provides the proper balance and serves as a secure finger guard. The knives are crafted from a proprietary steel formula that has been refined for more than 280 years. In conjunction with ZWILLING’s signature ice-hardening process, these FRIODUR blades are more complex, sharper, stain- and chip-resistant, and retain their edge for longer.

The SIGMAFORGE knives have a blade that is exceptionally durable, well-balanced, and flexible. It is crafted from a single piece of steel.

This knife’s 6-inch blade has slightly curved surfaces on both the back and cutting edge, which terminate in a sharp point. The size, which is smaller and narrower than most cook’s knives but more substantial than a paring knife, makes this one of the most versatile options for the novice chef.

This hand-honed blade is part of the famous Four-Star series. It features Henckels’ Sintermetal Component Technology (SCT), which allows three different grades of steel to be fused into a single piece, combining the blade, bolster, and tang. What does this mean in everyday language? It refers to a durable, high-quality knife that will last forever.

Key Features
  • SIGMAFORGE 1-piece, precision forged construction: Provides perfect geometry, high precision, and improved stability of the blade and steel structure, thus improving cutting edge retention for lasting sharpness.

  • Hand, precision honed blade: Is sharper and stays sharper longer.
  • Bonded polypropylene handles: Comfortable molded handles and food safe
  • Dishwasher safe: Easy care (Although hand-washing is recommended by J.A. Henckels).

Wonderful. I found this TUO brand of knives to be of high quality super sharp and nice to look at all at an affordable price I’ve purchased the boning and chefs knife.
Great knife. Originally I bought. bread knife from William Sonoma for x3 the cost of this one. I ended up returning that knife because it was not great quality and dull. I am much happier with this knife! It cuts my homemade bread beautifully, is pretty sharp, and feels high quality. I love the durable wooden handle. My only wish is that it came with a protective cover or sheath rather than being in my kitchen drawer exposed.
Bought more of these knives as prsents for freinds. This is a very good quality kitchen knife, easy to handle, keep sharpened, clean. Over all my favorite knife!
great blade. great blade, 4 stars because I wish it came sharpened. having to sharpen it myself was kinda a pain to be honest.
Many uses but great for barbecue. Buying a knife is difficult on line unless you know what you are looking for. There are so many types, handles, blade sizes and price points! I spent time searching and was willing to pay hundreds for a Wusthof Chef knife because they are highly rated. While looking I came upon this 8” Barbecue knife with fork shaped tip. It was perfect for my sons birthday! He does a lot of BBQ and Smoked meats and loved it! The handle is smooth but not slippery, with a full tang and very light in handling. My husband was also impressed and said he would like one as well. I say I am twice as impressed because I just ordered another for him! Very satisfied at one third the price!
Must have for the kitchen. This paring knife is fabulous. It’s beautiful and the best pairing knife I’ve ever had.
Beautiful affordable high quality nakiri knife. Full disclosure: I’m a bit of a kitchen knife junkie. Got way more than I will ever need, though that is beside the point. I have some expensive knives (Shun, Zwilling, and others) and as a sort of hobby collect various brands to try. This is the first TUO Phoenix series knife, and it is wonderful. The quality is great, the balance among the best, and it came really sharp. Then there are the esthetics — this is plainly a beautifully knife with the pakkawood grainy handle. Itis somewhat lighter than some other nakiri knives I have used. The beveled bolster is both graceful and useful – it makes the pinch grip easier to use. So I keep coming back to this knife for daily use. Could not recommend any higher. But I love my Shun Classic knives too.
Good product. Works, holds a good edge, good value and quality.
This was a VERY cheap knife, like $25 so I am very impressed with the quality. It is packaged very well and it very sharp out of box. I like the feel and the curved blade lets you rock the knife for dicing small stuff. I havent had to sharpen these knives yet so I will update my review when I try. I gave a 5 start review because for the price it is way more than I expected.

The kitchen utility knife from TUO features a tapered blade made of German-made premium high-carbon stainless steel. In addition, the blade has been subjected to a high-tech vacuum heat treatment to make it resilient, rust-resistant, and stain-resistant and to preserve its edge. Factors To Consider When Choosing The Best Utility Kitchen Knife

When it comes to choosing the best utility knife for your kitchen, there are a few factors that you need to take into consideration. Here are some of the most important things to keep in mind when making your decision:

Size

One of the first things you need to consider is the size of the knife. Utility knives typically come in two different sizes: 6-inch and 8-inch blades. The size you choose will depend on your personal preferences and the tasks you plan on using the knife for. If you are only going to use it for slicing fruits and vegetables, then a 6-inch blade should be sufficient. However, if you plan on using it for more heavy-duty tasks like carving meat, you may want to opt for an 8-inch knife.

Blade Material

Another critical factor to consider is the material that the blade is made out of. The most common materials are stainless steel and carbon steel. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. Stainless steel is more resistant to rust and corrosion but is also more difficult to sharpen. On the other hand, carbon steel is easier to sharpen but is more susceptible to rust and corrosion.

Handle material

The material of the knife handle is also important to consider. The most common materials are wood, plastic, and metal. Wood and plastic handles are usually less expensive but are also not as durable as metal handles. Metal handles, on the other hand, are more costly, but they are also more durable.

Weight

The weight of the knife is another factor to consider. Utility knives typically range in weight from 4 ounces to 8 ounces. The weight you choose will depend on your personal preferences and the tasks you plan on using the knife for. If you are only going to use it for slicing fruits and vegetables, then a lighter knife should be sufficient. However, if you plan on using it for more heavy-duty tasks like carving meat, you may want to opt for a heavier knife.

Price

Of course, the price is also an essential factor to consider. Utility knives typically range in price from $10 to $30. The price you pay will depend on the brand, the materials used, and the features you want. If you are only going to use your utility knife for slicing fruits and vegetables, you can probably get away with a less expensive knife. However, if you plan on using it for more heavy-duty tasks like carving meat, you may want to invest in a more expensive knife.

How To Clean And Maintain Utility Kitchen Knife

Over time, utility kitchen knives can become dull and require frequent sharpening. Additionally, the blades can become stained and discolored from use. To keep your knives in top condition, it is vital to clean and maintain them regularly.

The best way to clean utility kitchen knives is to wash them with warm, soapy water. Rinse the blades well and dry them thoroughly before storing them.

To remove stubborn stains or discoloration, you can soak the knives in a solution of equal vinegar and water for 30 minutes. If the colors are still present after washing, you can try scrubbing them with a soft-bristled brush.

You will need to use a sharpening stone to sharpen utility kitchen knives. First, choose a stone that has coarse grit for dull blades and fine grit for lightly dulled blades. Soak the stone in water for 10 minutes before use.

To sharpen the knife:

  1. Hold the blade at a 20-degree angle to the stone and use a back-and-forth motion to move the edge across the stone.
  2. Apply light pressure on the forward and heavier pressure on the backward strokes.
  3. Repeat this process 10-12 times on each side of the blade.

Once you have finished sharpening the knives, wash and dry them before storing them. Following these simple steps, you can keep your utility kitchen knives clean, sharp, and in excellent condition.

Best Utility Kitchen Knife Every Home Cook Needs – FAQs

That depends on your specific situation! If you want a complete set of kitchen knives, we recommend it, and most pre-assembled collections will include a utility blade, even though some argue that chef and paring knives have rendered them obsolete.

However, if you are a home cook who already owns a good chef’s knife and a good paring knife, you will likely be able to get by without one if your budget does not allow you to purchase one of decent quality. Why bother with inexpensive?

Serrated edges do not provide as clean a cut as their flat-bladed counterparts; however, they are handy for food with a more rigid exterior than its interior, such as bread, because they provide a little extra nudge for the initial cut.

Aside from that, there isn’t much difference between the two, especially if you already have an extensive collection of other knives. To determine which you prefer, you could order both and return the one you like the least.

The best utility kitchen knife for home cooks is the one that suits their specific needs the most. There are many different types and styles of utility knives available, so it’s essential to choose one that will work well for the tasks you typically perform in the kitchen.

A utility knife’s critical features include a sharp blade, a comfortable grip, and durable construction. You’ll also want to consider the blade’s size and the knife’s overall length when making your selection.

To keep your utility knife in good condition, clean and dry it after each use. It would be best if you also stored it in a safe place where it will not be exposed to extreme temperatures or moisture. You can wrap the blade in a protective sheath or cover when not in use.

Some blades for box cutters and utility knives are made of carbon steel. Unlike carbon steel, stainless steel blades do not discolor or rust; however, they are not as hard as carbon steel to keep a sharp edge. Some blades of utility knives and box cutters are made of stainless steel.

The utility knife is ideal for cutting produce with soft-to-medium firm skins or rinds, such as tomatoes, potatoes, apples, citrus fruits such as lemons, limes, oranges, cucumbers, and small squash such as zucchini, acorn, and butternut.

Most utility knife blades are universal. Specific shapes, such as a hook-style blade, may not appear identical, but they are compatible with standard utility knives.

And we slightly preferred knives with blades measuring 6 inches or less in length, as they provided a bit more control for fine-detail tasks such as mincing shallots than those with longer blades.

A utility knife is any knife used for general manual labor purposes. Initially, these knives were fixed-blade knives with durable cutting edges suited for rough work such as cutting cordage, cutting/scraping hides, butchering animals, cleaning fish scales, and reshaping wood.

Conclusion

We hope this guide has helped you search for the perfect utility kitchen knife. Always use caution when handling knives and keep them sharpened and clean for optimum performance. With a bit of care, your utility kitchen knife will be an indispensable tool in your kitchen for many years to come. Thank you for reading!
