How To Use A Food Processor

A food processor is an indispensable kitchen appliance. They are inexpensive and available in various sizes, ranging from small tabletop units to large ones that can sit on your countertop or be placed under your sink. Common uses for food processors include chopping, grating, mixing dough, and pureeing the soup. However, they can also be used as a blender or mixer when no chunks of food are left behind.

This blog post will explain how to use a food processor so that you understand its capabilities!

HOW BIG OF A FOOD PROCESSOR DO I REQUIRE?

Which food processor size do I need? There is no one correct response to this question. If you cook various foods or own a restaurant, you may need more than one food processor due to varying needs and cooking styles. As a result of their versatility, however, many people tend to own multiple types. Before purchasing one, it is sufficient to determine what you genuinely require.

This inquiry has two components: what size food processor do I require? and which processor type best suits my needs? The first part of this question refers to the amount of space available to store your new appliance, while the second refers to the type of food processor optimal for your particular tasks. For instance, a blender can be used to mix a variety of substances, but it cannot produce ice cream, so a countertop or handheld blender will be required for this task.

These blenders are ideal for mixing small quantities of food, such as soups and sauces. A small to the medium-sized food processor is perfect for preparing various dishes. You can purchase a larger cup-capacity blender if you have larger counter space. Some of these large-capacity blenders come with their own small- to medium-cup capacity, eliminating the need to buy a separate blender for each purpose. When purchasing a blender, be mindful of the quantity of food you intend to process and select a model with the appropriate capacity.

If you’re looking for a small to medium-sized food processor that can perform multiple tasks, a large food processor with its cup capacity and watt motor would be the most durable option. These processors are ideal for blending sauces and purees, as well as for preparing soups. Because they take up more space than smaller units, they typically function best with a larger capacity and larger wattage motor.

Mini blenders are ideal for making chutneys, salsas, and small amounts of bread dough. Additionally, these work best with blenders with larger capacities and higher wattages. Choose a blender with attachments for stirring, chopping, and blending if you want a small to a medium-sized blender that does not appear to be very durable. Popular attachments include a serrated knife, a small julienne fork, and a variety of whiskers. Before purchasing a blender with attachments, verify that the attachments are compatible with the foods you intend to blend.

Blenders are excellent for preparing large quantities of diverse foods from ground ingredients. Blending food in small batches facilitates the preparation of delectable meals. If you intend to prepare and serve nutritious meals to your family, you must have a food processor with all these functions. Whether designing a family dinner or for parties and gatherings, it is essential to have a blender with these capabilities.

TYPES OF FOOD PROCESSORS

If you are in the market for a new kitchen appliance, you may want to investigate the various food processors on the market. There are numerous benefits to purchasing one of these. This type of appliance will enhance the flavor of your food. It can be beneficial if you like to cook multiple meals at once. Listed below are various types of food processors based on the operations they perform.

These devices will also assist you in preparing various mixtures, powders, and powdered mixes.

Cutters and Choppers

When most people hear “slicers,” they probably envision a slicer and a chop. Nevertheless, there are several distinct types of slicers and choppers. There are tabletop, countertop, and standalone chop knives, for instance. Slicers are also knives and cutters, but in this context, the term refers to the actual blades used to slice, julienne, and grate food. Popular slicers include, among others, the Braun 12-inch slicing blade, the Cuisinart chopper, the Fagetto chopper, and the KitchenAid slicer.

 Food Blenders

The components of a food processor are a blade, a motor, and a chopping block. They are typically used to produce flour, rice, cereal, yogurt, and other baking ingredients. The blender blocks are available singly or in sets of two or more. Most blenders have a whirling motion that completes the mixture.

These appliances form the foundation of most kitchens. In addition to cooking and preparing food, these devices can also be used for other kitchen tasks. However, before purchasing any food processor or juicer, it is crucial to consider its intended use. If you intend to prepare and serve food at home, you should acquire a compatible blender and food processor. If you want to clean and organize your kitchen appliances, you will need a juicer with a large cutting surface and a food processor with a large pureeing capacity.

TYPES OF FOOD PROCESSOR BLADES

S-Shaped Blades

The majority of food processors have S-shaped blades. The blade has two curved edges that protrude from opposite ends to form an “S” shape. They are highly versatile in slicing, chopping, grinding, and grating.

These blades have numerous applications, including salsa and nut butter preparation. If you do not wish to use a knife, you can use these blades on a pulse setting.

Julienne Blades

Julienne’s blades look like tiny snake teeth. The razor-sharp edges of julienne blades are ideal for making cuts resembling straws. If you wish to prepare homemade vegetable sticks, hash browns, or garnishes, julienne knives are your best option.

They can also be used to make squash pasta dishes without cooking. Their ability to transform zucchini and spaghetti squash into spaghetti-like strands is unparalleled.

Serrated Blades

These blades are capable of chopping and pureeing vegetables of any size. These blades are also suitable for dicing frozen meat and products. These blades are ideal to produce nut butter. These blades can also be used to mince beef for soups and broths in small batches.

Slicing Blades

These blades bear their names. These blades are located on a disc attached to the food processor’s top. These blades are excellent for slicing fruits and vegetables. These blades can rapidly slice food into thin, flat strips. Modern food processors allow you to slice foods to the desired thickness.

Perforated Blades

Perforated blades are ideal for preparing sauces, hummus, and pesto. These blades can quickly pulverize any vegetable or fruit into a liquid state. These blades are suitable for designing a new shrimp cocktail sauce.

Shredding & Grating Blades

These blades are suitable for cutting any cheese. They help slice string cheese and shred soft goat cheese. Additionally, you can use them to zest citrus fruits such as grapefruit, lime, orange, and orange. These blades are ideal to produce citrus-based essential oils.

Dicing Blades

Do you prefer not to prepare your vegetables and fruits manually? It is feasible. A processor can perform the task. These dicing knives are typically sold in pairs and are capable of many patterns and cuts. These blades are ideal for making dice that are both easy to cut and precise.

They can be used to create fruit salads and vegetables for stews, soups, and other commonplace snacks. These blades provide limitless options.

French Fry Blades (also known as “Crimping Blades”)

The French fry is a staple of American cuisine. However, they can be challenging to make at home. Cutting potatoes can be difficult and time-consuming if you’re cooking for a large group. A food processor with crimping and french fry blades is an excellent choice.

These blades cut the time required to cut french fries by hand. Additionally, these blades can be used to slice vegetables for Asian dishes and vegetable pasta.

Whipping Disc Blades

These blades help create textures, sauces, and dessert bases. These discs can create whipped cream for pies, cakes, and other baked goods. You can also use these discs to make butter, pesto, and sauces. These blades are fantastic because they reduce preparation time and wrist strain when whipping thick liquids.

Brunoise Blades

These blades can create tiny dice for soups, pasta, and salads. If you want your fruits and vegetables to be as small as possible, look no further. They can also be used to create bouillon cubes that can be added to dishes such as chili, rice, and stew.

It is possible that these blades are not included in your typical food processor. You may have to search for processors that contain them or attachments that are sold separately.

Gaufrette Blades (“Waffle Blades”)

These food processor blades are ideal for those who enjoy potatoes. These blades are suitable for creating potato chips and waffle fries. It is possible that these blade options are not available on all food processors. Additionally, you may need to determine if your processor has an attachment for them.

HOW DO FOOD PROCESSORS WORK?

Are you looking for details about how food processor’s function? If so, you have arrived at the correct location. The operation of a food processor is comparable to that of a refrigerator or freezer. This article describes the process of various types of food processors.

Today’s popular food processors are surprisingly compact, powerful, and user-friendly. They contain various attachments that transform your kitchen into a gourmet cooking paradise. Some of the most potent options include the KitchenAid Small Kitchen Blender and the Bosch Nutri Ninja Pro Blender, which enable one-handed meal inspection from start to finish. These devices are also referred to as blenders. Consider the Sizzler Smart Chao Super Stick Blender if you have trouble maneuvering your blender and want something a little more compact.

A typical blender consists of three rotating blades. Typically, the interior of the blades is composed of plastic or another material that can withstand constant use over time. A motor and storage container are frequently attached to the exterior. The motor allows you to speed up or slow down the blending process, and the container holds all the food ingredients while blended. A guard on the exterior of the unit prevents it from striking you in the head or hand, while the blender’s blades are incredibly sharp and can easily cut through food.

Consider the KitchenAid Artisan Series 7500 Ultra Puree Machine if you’re looking for a more powerful option. This all-in-one food processor has three rotating blades and two spinning containers, including a whisk attachment. This processor can produce a puree in a matter of minutes!

SpeedSafe Complete Metal Actives High-Efficiency Air Pump is the second type of motor you should look for. It has a powerful engine and an integrated motor cover, making it safe to use even if you do not have many bowls or food containers. The processor has a bowl made of stainless steel that maintains its shape. After each use, a damp sponge is all that is required to clean the surface thoroughly. The three circular blades blend well, and the bowl can be used to prepare soups, sauces, and dressings.

The Blendtec QS-1000 Dual Core Food Processor is one of the newest types of food processors. These models are ideal for making soups, smoothies, and sauces. They feature a smoothie bowl that retains its shape, allowing you to create healthier, smoother smoothies than you could with standard ice cube trays. And blenders do an excellent job of chopping and blending your food, resulting in a significantly tastier product.

The final type of food processors I will discuss are those with electric motors. Once upon a time, all electric motors were created equal, but now certain brands are better suited for applications. For instance, blender manufacturers who only produce fruit juices can utilize a high-quality blade motor. Blenders that are designed to process whole foods can be operated manually. Even manufacturers use two different engines to perform two distinct functions: slicing for fruits and vegetables and heating for bread and meats.

Most food processors can slice and shred virtually anything. A few manufacturers produce food processors with paper-shredding blades, although these are called crush knives and are typically more compact and diminutive. Some food shredders have adjustable settings for the size of food pieces to be shredded, which are extremely useful for small projects. Shredders can also produce bowls with large surfaces so that everything that has been sliced and blended appears organized.

HOW TO USE A FOOD PROCESSOR?

What do you know about food processor usage? Have you got one at home? You may be missing out if you do not. Having one in your kitchen can provide numerous advantages.

Initially, food processors are simple to clean. Even if you do not wash them regularly, it is simple to do so yourself. This will reduce the number of times you visit the restaurant or scrub the grill to remove oil stains. The great thing about food processors is that they’re also designed to be environmentally friendly.

These machines produce delicious food from natural ingredients. Some are even equipped with manual controls. Many of them are highly potent. Some can even make your favorite foods taste like their constituent ingredients! That implies only one conclusion.

This means you can prepare some of the most delicious meals at home. Not to worry, it’s simple. You only need a few ingredients and a device to slice, dice, mince and combine them. There is a no faster, more straightforward, or more economical way to prepare nutritious meals for your family than with one of these machines.

Another great question is how to use a food processor that people frequently use. They question whether it genuinely becomes so sharp or crispy. They want to know whether grinding will alter the flavor. The answer is that it will not significantly change the taste of the food you prepare.

However, the primary factor that will affect the flavor is the rate at which the ingredients are ground. The slower the speed, the finer the chopped food will be. Getting the desired results from a slower food processor may take a little longer, but it will be worth it in the end because you will save money by not having to purchase as much food processor machine oil and electricity to heat it.

Finally, many individuals question the safety of food processor use. They want to know if it is safe for residential use. Yes, it is entirely secure. Using a food processor with caution and adhering to all safety instructions can be just as safe as using your kitchen knives. In addition, since you will be cutting the food with your own hands, you will be able to determine whether it is cooked enough to eat or is still raw.

To answer the question, “How do I use a food processor?” you must consider your kitchen and how you typically prepare food. For instance, if you usually mix rice, do you mix it until it is thoroughly combined? Most likely not. If you blend the rice, you will have more than intended.

What relevance does this have to your food processor? If you use a blender, your food will likely become a smooth paste. To accomplish this, you use your fingers, the blender, and water to combine the ingredients. You should add ingredients to the blender one at a time. Once you have combined your ingredients, you will pour the final product into your molds. If you use a food mill, you will place the mixture in the mill and then use it to produce rice or other grains.

How to use a food processor: You are now aware that you can prepare any food with a food processor. However, its usage may initially appear a bit confusing. There are a few fundamental cooking techniques with which you should become familiar if you want to learn how to use your new processor to its full potential.

Using a food processor to prepare soup is relatively simple. Place the desired ingredients in a blender or food processor, turn it on, and allow the ingredients to be pureed. Additionally, you can use your food processor to puree hot foods. This can help you take advantage of the soup’s natural nutrients.

How to use a food processor These are merely a few of the most frequently asked questions about how to use a food processor, but there are many others you will want to research. To get the most out of your new food processor, you should familiarize yourself with the various techniques and tips. Nothing is more frustrating than attempting to prepare a delicious meal while not correctly using a new tool.

TIPS FOR USING A FOOD PROCESSOR

Food processors are an incredible invention that can perform amazing feats in the kitchen. Once you begin using your new machine, you’ll discover that it has countless uses you were unaware of beforehand. Before you start purchasing your device, it may be a good idea to take a moment to review the advice provided here. This will assist you in optimizing your new kitchen appliance. Ultimately, your kitchen appliances should make your life easier.

There are two common types of cutters, chopping blades and slicing blades. The length of their blade teeth distinguishes between these two types of cutters. A manual work bowl type of processor bowl is typically utilized for shaving. A chopping blade operates very differently and has much shorter teeth. In addition, they are normally held further from the work surface than a cutting blade.

The only significant difference between a chopping and slicing food processor is the rotational speed of the blades. Typically, a chopping blade will chop and then cut again until the food’s ingredients reach the large cavity in the center. A slicing blade slices the ingredients on the chopping block, which are then reduced to a fine powder. These small components are what determine the flavor of your final product.

These two types of cutters are helpful for a variety of cooking techniques. The only distinction is the blade speed. As well as mixing and kneading dough, a chopping blade can be used for roasting and slicing. Additionally, a slicing blade can be used to make pasta, bread, and other dough. However, if you possess a mixing blade, you should use a dough blade. This will prevent the ingredients from separating into large chunks when they are combined.

Additionally, it is essential to remember that various kitchen appliances come in multiple sizes. Some work bowls are designed specifically for small kitchens, whereas others are suitable for larger kitchens. There are even more compact handheld models for chopping and blending. There are stand mixers and larger appliances such as food processors available. Choosing one that meets your requirements will save you time and effort in the kitchen.

Cutting raw foods is one of the most common functions of these kitchen tools. There are multiple ways to accomplish this. There are two fundamental methods for grating raw meat. You can either use a knife and chopping board to grate the food or purchase a food processor with a grating blade that will allow you to grate the food more quickly and easily. These are excellent options for getting more done without consuming too much cooking time.

Many individuals are also interested in baking with a food processor. For instance, if you want to make a delicious lasagna, you can chop your vegetables and meat in a food processor and then puree them together. Then, you can toss everything into your lasagna noodles and allow the dish to continue cooking. This reduces the time you spend in the kitchen and the amount of money you would need to spend at the store to purchase the ingredients for lasagna. Always look for a food processor with a chopping blade so that you can quickly chop vegetables and meats into smaller pieces.

If you’ve ever had to clean out a large appliance, such as a juicer or food processor, you understand how frustrating it can be. However, when you have a mini chopper with a chopping blade, you can easily clean up the mess without purchasing a new juicer or food processor. Many individuals use their mini chopper to clean other household appliances as well. This is yet another reason why buying a device with a sharp blade is essential to quickly clear out your kitchen and reduce the amount of clutter that frequently accumulates there.

BENEFITS OF USING A FOOD PROCESSOR IN THE KITCHEN

When discussing the advantages of using a food processor in the kitchen, many people quickly point out that it saves them time. Some individuals, however, are unsure of how much a food processor improves the quality of the meal. This is because it is typically used for multiple purposes in the kitchen. They are utilized to puree, knead, and combine various ingredients to create delicious and nutritious food. They can also be used to make ice cream, cookies, soups, and other desserts. However, these are not the only things that processors excel at.

In addition to having numerous uses in the kitchen, a food processor can also be highly versatile. It can be utilized to prepare a vast array of foods. It can be sliced, minced, diced, cubed, grated, and fried. Using a food processor, you can also puree various fruits and vegetables and cook a whole chicken. It is possible to accomplish anything with a processor.

Additionally, a food processor is straightforward to clean after use. It will only take a few minutes to remove all the solid particles and any food remnants that have become rigid. Some individuals even discard leftover food that does not taste as good as the ingredients that go into it. With a food processor, all of this is obsolete. You will discard it or place it in the refrigerator.

Many individuals are hesitant to use a processor because, according to some, it has a rough texture. This is an advantage, particularly if you have children at home. Unlike other appliances and gadgets, food processors have very smooth surfaces with more irregular textures for easier handling. You will be able to appreciate how the food looks after being cut by hand or with a blender. The absence of a coarse texture makes it easier for children to learn how to cut their food.

While food preparation with a food processor may take slightly longer, it will save you a great deal of time. You can easily prepare soups and other dishes without worrying about their flavor. You can also make vegetable and fruit juice without too much difficulty. You can also make your bread by grinding meat and nuts into flour. Possibilities are infinite. It can also be used to create flour for cakes and cookies.

The most significant advantage of using a food processor is the opportunity to save money. Much more expensive foods are available in supermarkets than in grocery stores. Instead of purchasing costly ingredients, you can cook all your desired meals. Using a food processor prevents you from consuming the entire jar of tomato sauce in your refrigerator, as you can transform it into tomato paste.

In addition to saving money, using a food processor will improve your health. Since it utilizes natural enzymes that aid digestion, it aids in system cleansing. It is also believed to boost the immune system by destroying the harmful bacteria that commonly cause illness and disease. This will help you in preventing infection from entering your life.

These are some of the many advantages of using a food processor in the kitchen. If you want to use a food processor in your kitchen, you can quickly locate one online or in a nearby store. They will be less expensive than purchasing them from a supermarket. You can experiment with various food processors to determine which you prefer. Remember not to overload your food processor with multiple ingredients that it may not be able to handle.

HOW IS A FOOD PROCESSOR DIFFERENT FROM A BLENDER?

People passionate about cooking and baking frequently ask, “What is the difference between a blender and a food processor?” Blenders also referred to as food processors, are typically considered more potent than their food processor counterparts. But what is the precise distinction between a blender and a food processor? In this article, we’ll provide an answer!

A blender is a sort of like the master blender of old. Smoothies, soups, sauces, dressings, and even whipped cream and ice cream can be created with this appliance. Essentially, it is a device used to liquefy and puree food. Although a food processor is a modern invention that resembles a kitchen tool more than a kitchen appliance, it still possesses the essential characteristics of a blender.

A food processor is designed to reduce the time required to prepare a meal. It typically includes a container with integrated blades to facilitate the process. Most come with a measuring cup and spoon, allowing you to measure and store ingredients easily. Some have multiple compartments for adding ingredients, while others have separate compartments for each type of food. Some can be programmed to bend at specific temperatures, making whipping, chopping, and blending easier.

On the other hand, blenders are designed to replace blenders. Many blenders have a bowl on the side that allows you to add ingredients. Typically, these food processors have an automatic shut-off feature, making them simple to use and clean.

There are benefits and drawbacks to both types of machines. Due to the ability to control the blending and cooking times of the food, a blender can be used to create some very unique dishes. However, if you cook frequently, you may discover that your food is not as creamy or tasty as you would like. This is because the blender’s blades are often insufficiently powerful to achieve the desired consistency. The blade of a food processor is much more robust, allowing you to create a more consistent and flavorful product.

Probably the most significant benefit of a food processor is its affordability. Generally, food processors are less expensive than blenders, mainly if you shop around. While some people pay more for a blender, a good food processor typically costs only a few dollars. Considering that even a tiny amount of food can require several minutes of processing, the money you save in the long run is well worth it.

One of the disadvantages of a food processor is that it can only process one type of food. Because it has blades, a blender is also limited in what it can process. You may also find that a food processor cannot complete the task as quickly as a blender.

When searching for a food processor, you must consider its intended purpose. A blender will likely serve you better if you intend to prepare large quantities of food. If you are looking for a quick and straightforward way to prepare food for a family meal, you may consider using a food processor. Whatever the purpose, there is no discernible difference between the two.

A food processor can be utilized to prepare a variety of foods. It is possible to prepare soups and stews and even bake bread using a food processor. This makes it very convenient for people who cook or enjoy preparing meals at home but don’t have time to spend in the kitchen. Additionally, if you have a health-conscious family, a food processor can help you remove excess calories from the food you prepare.

Another factor to consider when selecting a food processor is how simple it will be to clean after use. Over time, food processors can become very dirty. This is because all ingredients will ultimately end up in the sink. Because all the crushed food particles end up in the blender’s container, it can be challenging to clean. All food particles will fall out of a food processor, making cleanup much more straightforward.

It is a matter of personal preference as to which one you would like to use the most. There are advantages and disadvantages to each type of food processor. You should spend your money on a reputable brand if you intend to use the item frequently. A less expensive model may suffice if you only intend to use it occasionally. There are numerous options for home cooking, so you will find the one that works best for you.

HOW TO CLEAN A FOOD PROCESSOR?

Many food processor owners inquire as to how to clean their appliances. They do not want to deal with a clogged bowl or the time-consuming process of cleaning food particles off the sides of the machine. It can be frustrating when food adheres to the motor or bowls of the device. It also requires time to clean up the mess.

The procedure is surprisingly straightforward. Initially, remove the bowls or attachments from the food processor. Each should be able to be extracted without removing the cap. Also, be cautious when removing the wheels. You must ensure that they are not connected to anything.

Cleaning food processors with nylon-bristled cleaning brushes is highly effective. On the exterior, there are nylon brushes explicitly designed for soft food processors. When the soapy water from the food processor is already clean, it is much easier to work with. The food processor’s components are also significantly more straightforward to access than before. If you have an older model, you must detach the small blade attachment and run it under warm water until it is clean. Rinse everything thoroughly afterward.

Now that you understand how to clean a food processor properly? Now is the time to configure it for use. Follow the instructions on the container and place it in the dishwasher. Be sure to read the washing instructions so that you do not over-dry your kitchen and lose all of your valuables. Dry them thoroughly and return them to the dishwasher for a second drying cycle.

The remaining dishes from the food processor should then be washed with mild dish soap and discarded. Rinse all detachable parts, including the blades, with warm water before drying them with a soft cloth. Before storing the blade, inspect it for nicks and jagged edges, and then give it a final scrub with mild dish soap.

Now that everything has been rinsed and cleaned, you must eliminate all cooking residues. This includes olive oil, salt, and pepper. After rinsing these items thoroughly under running water in the sink, turn off the machine. You can leave the container’s lid open for a few minutes to allow the contents to air-dry. Then, carefully return everything to the food processor. Before replacing the lid, thoroughly rinse it under warm running water to remove any remaining residue.

The final step is to clean the food processor’s interior with a dry cloth. Before you begin cleaning, it would be wise to spray some rubbing alcohol onto a soft cloth. If you are uncertain how much to apply to the cloth, refer to the container. You do not want other stains on the container’s exterior or interior. If moisture is still on the device after wiping it down, try soaking it in warm water and wiping it again.

The final step would be to scrub the blades and exterior with a soft scrub brush. Be cautious when cleaning the machine’s interior so as not to cause any damage. After completing this step, you should examine the bowl where the food is stored to ensure no scratches or crevices. If there are any, the blade should likely be replaced. Before replacing the blade, if you discover a crevice or scratch in the bowl, use an alternative method, such as using a paper towel to gently scrape the scratch to the metal surface of the bowl.

FAQs

Never wear a tie or loose clothing or jewelry when using a food processor. Tie long hair back or secure under a cap. Do not put a food processor motor base in water or other liquids. Keep the food processor and power cord away from stove burners or other sources of heat.

Food processors are also great for making pie dough, cutting butter into flour, chopping up veggies for anything and everything, blending salad dressings, and even making truffle batter (which, may be my favorite reason). Food processors also have an uncanny way with nuts.

Often times prepping a meal can be labor-intensive, but a food processor breaks things down in seconds to reduce the time it takes to get meals on the table. A good one is indispensable–small, easy to clean and powerful, it can make a variety of soups, dips, sauces and more with just a few flicks of a button.

Food processors can chop, shred, slice, blend, purée, and more! It’s a pretty exciting kitchen appliance in that it helps you perfect all of your favorite dishes, sauces, and dips. And that’s just a start.

First, assemble the food processor and attach the blade. There are a variety of different blade attachments that can be used to chop, slice, or grate food. Next, add your recipe ingredients and screw the lid onto the processor. Blend or pulse the food until it’s as smooth or chunky as you like it.

Although food processors and blenders share some functions, they are not interchangeable. Primarily, a blender is used to puree or crush ice. Use a blender if your final product is something you can drink, drizzle or dip. In addition to pureeing, a food processor can slice, grate, shred, dice and more.

A small 250-watt motor should be able to handle chopping and grinding small amounts of herbs, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. However, if you plan on processing large volumes of food or using your machine for tougher tasks such as kneading dough, you’ll want a stronger motor offering at least 600 watts.

Small food processors are usually considered 6–9 cups while medium-size food processors can handle 10–13 cups and large ones can accommodate 14–16 cups or even more. Food choppers have some of the same functionality as food processors but are smaller, with about 3–5 cups of capacity.

Claimed food processor capacities typically range from about 7 to 16 cups, although actual volumes often vary by 1 or 2 cups. Choppers hold only about 1 to 5 cups.

Container and Lid: An easy way to clean the container of your food processor is by squeezing a few drops of dish liquid in the bottom and filling the container halfway with warm water. Put the lid on and run the food processor for a few seconds. Then dump out the soapy water and rinse.

When your food processor blade is dull it can cause the motor to work harder than it should, resulting in a burning or electrical smell. To replace the blades, unplug the processor and remove the lid. Lift out the bowl scraping device, and the blade assembly.

Though pretty much all parts of food processors are top-shelf dishwasher-safe (except for the motor base), some will be easier to clean than others.
