Exactly what you would expect, as advertised. For the price a great value. This is easy to use, looks good and works like you would expect. Do not expect Wolf or similar construction, but looks good and the controls are easy to adjust, hold their level of toasting. Like the reheat function, and cancel function. We have it set on one of the lowest settings to keep from burning toast. Not sure what you would want the higher setting for, anything more than a couple of setting up from the lowest burns toast. But the lowest seems to work well for a medium level of toasting and not burning. I would not return but if choosing again would look again for other options. However not unhappy with this choice.

Terrific Toaster. I read a lot of reviews and did a lot of research before buying this toaster. I love it. The toaster itself is very attractive and modern looking. It works like a charm. I read reviews that complained about the length of time it took to toast. I learned many years ago that low quality toasters usually toasted very fast, browning the outside, but not warming the bread product itself through and through. When I started to purchase better quality toasters I learned that they did indeed take a bit longer to toast. The reason being is that they toasted more slowly and at a lower temperature which allowed the bread to be thoroughly heated through, not just browned on the outside. This toaster takes as long as the one it replaced as it too was a high quality toaster. It toasts perfectly evenly on bread, bagels, waffles, etc. I appreciate the reheat feature which allows the bread product to be heated again without getting more toasted. The defrost setting works just as it should and is really very fast. I appreciate the crumb trays which are located in the front at the bottom. They’re very easy to keep clean. The KRUPS toaster is well made and does a great job of toasting bagels. This toaster replaced an old T-Fal toaster that still works, but was showing small signs of possibly needing replacement. I liked the T-Fal, but as you can tell from the picture it was showing signs of age. One thing I did not like about the T-Fal was that the words indicating what each button did wiped right off very easily with a swipe of a dish rag. So this time I thought I would try another brand. It takes time to get to know how to use it properly, and I’ve found it interesting to go up the learning curve trying to get the best results with various shapes, sizes and types of bread. The main challenge has been setting the browning level so that the bread surface toasts without the edges burning. I’ve had my smoke alarm go off a couple times as I’ve failed at that maneuver, but I’m slowly getting the hang of it.My only quibble about this toaster is that it can be a little hard to get the bread out once it is finished toasting. You’ll need a pair of wooden tongs to go with this model, or the dexterity to turn 2 wooden spoons into a makeshift pair of tongs. Also, watch the “chrome” surfaces on the toaster — they scratch quite easily so you shouldn’t put anything even slightly gritty or abrasive on top of them.

You select the color shade of toast you want and push the lever down. The controls are all at the top edge, not down the side, so they are easier to see and use.• If you have a bagel, touch the Bagel icon and insert the two cut sides facing outward. The toaster will only heat the cut sides.• There is a countdown timer (see photo). When it gets to zero, the toast pops up. You can eject any time by touching the Cancel icon.• Quality seems good. Smooth, clean, brushed stainless design. The sides of the toaster remain cool.CONS:• The unit consistently over-toasts bread. The lightest setting gives us medium brown as in the photo. There is no way to get lighter toast other than ejecting the slice early.• The unit does not toast both sides the same. One will be dark while the other much lighter (see photos).• The unit is 850 watts which is a little on the low side. It ought to be more like 1000 watts to speed things up a bit. Its extra wide for no reason. Yeah the openings are extra wide for toasting beagles but the machine is wider than necessary but whatever. There is a place to wrap up the cord underneath for moving or storage and the display does stay on for a few minutes after your toast pops up, I guess to stay ready for more but it does go into a sleep mode after a few minutes. I have noticed some of the heating element barely come on, I hope it was designed like that but I don’t know. At the end of the day it does do a really good job of making toast.

I did just that, because the directions didn’t say which sides toasted the bagels. I reached out to the address in that cheery card, and never heard back. So I did my own trial and error, and you should put the cut side facing out on both sides.With the Defrost and Bagel feature, I can buy extra bagels, cut them, then freeze them, and then toast them with both the Bagel and Defrost button pushed. In a minute or two, I have a fresh bagel ready for my lox.Finally, someone mentioned the noise you hear when adjusting the toast level. Betsy isn’t the toaster for us. The reason I purchased a NEW toaster was because my previous one (by Cuisinart) quit staying down when I pushed the lever- therefore it wouldn’t toast my bread. This always caused me to start off my morning upset and disappointed. I received this toaster on Friday 3/1/19, and it’s super cute (I’ve nicknamed her Betsy). I used it right away on Friday and was super stoked that it toasted my bread perfectly (shocking right?). Well this morning I went to toast my english muffin and the dang lever wouldn’t stay down. After a few choice words and many threats she finally agreed to toast my english muffin. I was only going to give this toaster 3 stars, but I moved it up to 4 just because good ol’ Betsy agreed to help me with my breakfast toast. works ok, slow. Pros: This works reasonably well. It gives a nice even toasting across both sides of bread slices. It also works well on bagels. The knob adjusts between almost nothing to almost blackened. It performs better than any other toaster I’ve ever had. The outside of the toaster stays cool, or only slightly warm, to the touch.Cons: It’s very slow. It’s only 850 watts, so toasting feels like it takes forever. Over time, the toasting level has decreased. I started around setting 4, but now, to get the same browning, I need to set it closer to 6. The cord comes out of the bottom towards the front, so you use up about 6 inches of cord just reaching the back of the toaster. There’s still plenty to reach the wall. I think you could use this on the front edge of even a 30″ kitchen counter.Other: The bagel setting turns off the center coils. So to toast the cut faces, you need to turn them to the outsides. This is the opposite of other bagel toasters I’ve used. This is the first toaster I’ve used that had a “cancel” button. I’m used to just lifting the lever, which doesn’t work on this one.

Seems like a decent value in a cheap toaster. When I first used it, I had to slam the lever down to get it to stay down. After a few uses, it is working better, now. I don’t know what the lighter settings are for, as I am having to use setting 5 (out of 6) to get a decent toast/color on my bagels. Toasts pretty even on both sides. This is a great toaster, especially for the price! It is thinner than my last one and looks stylish on the counter. I LOVE the handle because it is sturdy and pushes down easily. Also it toasts both sides close to uniformity.

Solid little toaster. Seems like a good toaster overall. We have a smallish counter in the part of the kitchen where we use this, so a small footprint was important. Unit came w a small dent on the front left face, which I don’t believe is the fault of the manufacturer (package it came in was damaged). Decided to keep it as company was coming in that weekend. Has a small digital display and settings are changed easily. It handles bagels and thicker toast quite easily. Overall I’m pleased with the purchase.
Hamilton Beach, what have you done. My old toaster was looking run down, so I ordered a similar looking one from the same brand on Amazon. The package was delivered without any damage. The first thing I did was to compare the dimensions to the old toaster (from Hamilton Beach), that is also mostly steel exterior. It is surprising that the slots in the new one are shorter and narrower significantly. Then I compared the crumb collecting bottom tray size and that is shorter and narrower than the one on my old toaster. It covers only half of the width of the slots, it may result in stuck and burnt pieces. My old one toasts bagels fine and this new one I got looks too small for anything other than standard bread slices. Other reviews mentioned how this model toasts unevenly.Before you throw out your old toaster, please compare the dimensions of the slots and the bottom tray. If a brand name like Hamilton Beach cannot be relied upon, it is discouraging to consumers. You will not be able to toast bagels with this one and you will be left with a toaster with stuck crumbs due to the narrow slots.Hamilton Beach, what have you done, penny wise and pound foolish apparently. Zero stars for this toaster. Needless to say I will be returning it.I did find another toaster from the same brand with plastic sides, but with longer and wider slots with a proper bottom collecting tray for $39 on Amazon.

This is a 4.5 star review – it would have been 5 stars except for one issue.The good: Firstly, this toaster has a proper bagel setting unlike many other toasters. The bagel setting on this toaster just does one side – so ideal for bagels, buns, english muffins and the like. I prefer these items to have a toasted inside and warmed but untoasted outside – exactly what this toaster does. The bagel setting on many other toasters, including a different one I recently purchased (and then replaced with this one), simply adds extra time when on the bagel setting, with all burners lit up. That’s not what I want.The toaster works well, it is nicely sized (not too big), has reasonably wide slots, an extra lift to get items out of the toaster and is easy to clean.The Bad: As other reviewers have pointed out, a design flaw is that the toaster reverts to its 4 setting every time. So if you like a 5 darkness to your toast, you have to manually change to to 5 each time – it will not remember that setting. I personally don’t find it an issue since the 4 setting is normally fine, or I just pop it back down for a bit of extra toasting – but for some this could be really annoying. Hopefully this problem will be fixed by the manufacturer in future models of this toaster.

Best toaster I’ve bought in fifty years. I chose the Frigidaire toaster because it’s American made, but seriously, it’s far superior to every toaster I’ve bought over the past fifty years. It has wide slots—but pop tarts and waffles DON’T fall through, it toast everything you put in it evenly and exactly the way you want. Regular bread toast comes out very toasty/crispy on the outside, but still moist on the inside! I LOVE it. (And besides, it’s super cute and looks nice on the counter)

Toaster With A Burn Notice. So many toasters. So little need for more than one. This Frigidaire has a delightful vintage style and appears well made. Controls exude quality in both tactile touch and function.The single fault I find — and share with others — is its excessive firepower, rendering anything dialed much above “2” a charred depiction of its former self. (Yes, I even twisted the dial back and forth several times.) Consequently, I moderate my dialing accordingly.The pre-toast thawing feature is handy. And the bagel button begets single-sided toasting, igniting outer burners only. Canceling is quickly executed. Dialing doneness is direct and in keeping with the design aesthetic.All in all, a fine toaster. Irrelevant higher doneness settings loses it one star. My experience with this toaster is only weeks along, but sufficient to recommend the appliance.

Does what it’s supposed to do. Toast. It toasts nicely and evening and while you will have to figure out the setting for the level of toastiness you prefer, it works well when you do. The only weird thing is how it toasts bagels. I’ve had to slot the bagels in with the toasted side facing the exterior of the toaster. Not sure if I’m being clear, but basically it’s not intuitive for me to put in bagels without trying to remember which side of the slot the element turns on, and I find it a bit odd, but maybe it’s just something that needs to become habit. Either way, for the cost, this is a good value toaster and it looks awesome to boot.
